Sixers Week 7 Power Rankings

John Hollinger - 16th (8th in East)

Marc Stein, ESPN - 20th (9th in East)

The good news: My buddy Scooter's beloved Jodie Meeks is raining in 3s after being stuck on the inactive list for the first six games. The bad news: Meeks' splash means No. 2 pick Evan Turner is coming off the bench.

Hollinger Playoff Odds - 55% (projected 39-43)

PBT, Kurt Helin - 21st (10th in East)

They are 5-2 in their last 10 and we said last week this is a team whose numbers are better than their record. It is starting to turn around.

Star-divide

DimeMag - 19th (8th in East)

Last week - Beat Cleveland, lost to Boston, beat New Orleans
In the last five games, Elton Brand is averaging 14.2 points and 11.2 rebounds.

Hoops World - 21st (10th in East)

At 1-10 on the road, the Sixers play a winnable game on Tuesday in New Jersey. That's the one to get, given that starting Saturday, they'll go out for eight straight - seven against clubs with winning records.

Composite: 19.4 (9th in East)

Bonus: According to Basketball Reference's Wins Pythagorean the Sixers should be 12-11 instead of 8-15.

The way the Sixers are playing, i feel obligated to say that they have to make the playoffs as a 5th seed or just lose every game. In the beginning of the year, I foreshadow the Sixers playing like a high caliber team at some point. Well they almost beat the Celtics. Reminiscing that 10 game winning streak a few years back, I say this is more enjoyable with all the youngsters and what not.

I think the Sixers, Knicks, Bucks and Pacers will battle it out for the 6th, 7th and 8th playoff spots. The Bobcats and Raptors are a little frisky, but I think they’re a little worse than those four.

The Sixers are playing really well right now, but they’re 1-10 on the road and have a brutal December schedule (mostly on the road) after the Nets and Clippers their next two.

It’ll be good to check back at the end of December.

As of now... The Knicks are looking a bit more legit lately though

And I see them LOCKED on to that 6th and Indiana is probably the only one as of now with the best chance to take that spot. The 7th and 8th are the ones that are definitely up for grabs with Indiana, Milwauke, Sixers, Toronto and Bobcats in the fray.

I'll do it myself!

I was hoping someone would mention that, Derek! Frankly I thought the pitching staff was fine last season, and that it was more the lack of offense that ended their post-season. Blanton wasn’t so terrible as the team’s 4th starter.

But this signing gives the Phillies arguably the most intimidating pitching rotation in major league history. Sort of like Atlanta many years ago.

I’m not a real baseball guy, so I’m more interested in your informed opinion.

The Sixers are in danger of making the playoffs even with a sub .500 record. It is somewhat strange that there are so many poorly developed teams in the East with substandard rosters.

The Sixers have real flaws as a team, and through good play they are overcoming them on certain nights. They are not capable of winning in the playoffs, so I see no point in trying. Their recent win-streak is more a product of the schedule than their real ability as a team. Unless they can make a trade for a big man, this team should try to find ways to lose as many games as they can.

Now that he’s in the NBA, he’s not quite so dominant a player….yet. I refuse to continue to cry about a past draft or a blown opportunity. Everyone knows I wanted him instead of the one we got. Now most of you feel that way too. I still hope that Turner turns out to be a great player.

I would be pushing for wins instead of loses if we had Favors on the roster. As things are I’ll settle for Speights and hope for loses.

I’m beginning to be more of a Mission#BJ guy myself. I don’t mind development and wins though I just don’t want us to make the playoffs so we have better chances at draft picks. Hopefully Bogut stays healthy so the Bucks will stay ahead of us. If the Knicks don’t begin to suck and they stay ahead of us then there would be that last playoff spot that we might get. I THINK Indiana is kind of good (it’s the eastern conference lol) and they can stay ahead of us too. Toronto I think will have a record comparable to ours and I think Charlotte should be good enough to move up. Everyone else below us is terrible ( I don’t really get why Detroit underachieves so badly but they do) and I think we will stay ahead of them.
