Sixers: 10 Stats You Should Know

Derek and I were throwing stats around on Twitter the other night, but since not everyone has Twitter I'd thought I'd share these statistical McNuggets with the entire Liberty Ballers community. SMALL SAMPLE SIZE ALERT!

  1. Andre Iguodala is shooting 25% from beyond 10 feet, on 6.7 attempts per game.
  2. 74.2% of Andre Iguodala's baskets have been assisted by another player.
  3. Jrue Holiday has nearly doubled his And1% (1.7 to 3.3) and Free Throw Rate (.17 to .30).
  4. Evan Turner has a higher Defensive Rebounding % than DeMarcus Cousins, Pau Gasol, Blake Griffin and Paul Millsap.
  5. Elton Brand's PER (23.7) is currently the second-highest of his career.
  6. Elton Brand has double the win shares (1.4) of the next highest Sixers, Lou Williams (0.7) and Jrue Holiday (0.7).
  7. Although he's only played 76 minutes, Mo Speights ranks 2nd in the NBA in DREB% (33.2%) of guys who've played at least 75 minutes, behind Reggie Evans (33.8%).
  8. In 38 minutes, Jodie Meeks has more combined threes (5) than Jason Kapono, Evan Turner and Andre Iguodala (4).
  9. Elton Brand is shooting 52% on jumpers between 10-23 feet, on 6.6 attempts per game.
  10. Of guys who've played at least 75 minutes, Lou Williams ranks 4th in free throws per 36.

small sample size indeed. Although, it would be interesting to keep track of these stats every ten games or so. I’m mostly interested in Iguodala’s shot attempts per game in the 10-23 ft range (in the sense that I want to see them go down), and Holiday’s free throw rate. In fact, the sixers are suffering by opponents getting to the line so often. I want to see Holiday, Turner, and Iguodala getting to the line more.

Hold on, am I awful at math or does 6.7 shot attempts from 10+ ft for 6 games calculate to about 40 shots. Meaning Iguodala is 0-40ish?

Also, is there an advanced stats website you guys use for stuff like that? I’m interested because unlike baseball (WAR, BABIP, etc.) or hockey (CORSI) my head doesn’t explode when I look at advanced basketball stats.

hoopdata.com, 82games.com, and basketball-reference.com are the three that I normally look at but I’m sure there’s more out there

you can also make ur own calculations of advanced stats thanks to our friend Akis at The Pick and Scroll and also Sactown Royalty. Here’s the link for the advanced stat calculator he came up with.

Okay I’m an idiot for some reason I ignored the 25% and took in the awfulness and read 0%. Oops..

It appears that Speights has some other skills besides scoring and should be getting more PT. Either he is the future or he isn’t and 8 min. a game for your future PF or Center isn’t enough.

Lou Williams deserves all the PT he can get, and Jodi also deserves some time at the expense of the others to stretch the floor. Iguodala can swing to the 3 spot to give Jodi more time.

Where are the stats on Thad?

Andre’s outside shooting is appallingly bad. He isn’t working hard enough on this aspect of his game or he’s stealing money.

Thad’s playing okay; slightly better.

3rd worst record in their history

Actually they are tied with their 2nd worst winning percentage: 0.222 at the close of the ‘95-’96 season. Worst record in their and nba history was ‘72-’73 which was 0.11
