Pre-Season: Sixers Lose to Cavs
The Sixers drop to 1-5 this pre-season, and you get the feeling we're in for a long 82. Hopefully it'll get better once we're able to watch the team and talk Perry Jones development.
Iguodala led the team with 19 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists and Andres Nocioni dropped 17 off the bench, on nine shots.

Enes Kanter, I like his size(6’10, 260 with a 7 foot wingspan) and he’s gonna be playing in Kentucky this yr after INTL.Basketball. He’ll be seasoned and it’ll be an easy transition for him.
Nocioni finally hitting his groove!
7-9 FG, 2-4 from 3, 17 pts, 3 rebs in just 17 mins of action!
There can only be one Noce!
Noting it’s the Cavs, but yeah I’d have less hate for Noce if he does positive things like he did today.

Noting also that the Cavs just beat us by...a lot!
And that’s one big step you took today, my man. At least you’re open to Noce changing your mind.
There can only be one Noce!
Speights and Nocioni were the only ones with positive +/- for the Sixers. Their inability to stop other teams from scoring is a serious issue.
Without being able to see the team play it’s very hard to get a read on them. Comcast really sucks here in terms of attempting to get people excited about the team. It is a waste to not put the games on, when they have nothing else of significance to air. It shows how little Comcast cares about the Sixers or filling seats.
Jrue was +5 as well

Do you really put that much stock into +/-?
I’m just asking.

MY mistake. It wasn’t Noce, it was Holiday.
I’m not entirely enthused with +/- as an evaluation tool, however, keeping track of how your team does and how well the other team does while your on the floor seems at first glance to be a good measure of your influence on the team relative to someone else. I think over time it can help to show who is really helping the team win as opposed to just taking up space.
Ok – now Im starting to panic. We cant play D (56% shooting) to create rebounds (that we cant really get anyway) to get into the transition game to score points because our offensive sets are weak.
How did we win 40 games a couple years ago. I guess Sammy D and Andre Miller were more valuable than I gave them credit for – and we havent adequately replaced them?
Its gonna be a long year unless Roddy T does something drastic I think.
I guess Sammy D and Andre Miller were more valuable than I gave them credit for – and we havent adequately replaced them?
Absolutely. Both slightly above average at their position. One stabilized the offense the other the defense. Both played 82 games/yr, further stabilizing their positions.
Neither Sam or Miller were part of the teams long term future. But that does not mean that they can be discarded without feeling pain.
I feel that Jrue’s overall production should be surpassing that of Miller right now.
I feel that Hawes/Brand/Battie is a better combo at center than Sam.
So, I feel that this team should be just as good……maybe better.
Yeah, well there are the real life games. Brand’s sucking his ass off, Battie is a 15th man scrub and we haven’t seen Hawes yet.
If we win 40 games, hit me over the head.
The only thing I agree with, is Jrue Holiday surpassing Miller.

Thad Young should be one of the top 3 scorers on the team whether starting or coming off the bench. Why is Collins not designing the offense to fit his talent?
Collins acted when he was hired like he’d just go with whatever works on offense, and focus more on the defensive end. So far, he hasn’t lived up to that, and is instead trying to make this team on offense something that it is not.
0-6 with solid rebounding is a Thad Young line from last season under Eddie Princeton. If Collins doesn’t wake up fast, he will just hurt trade values and guide us to a late lottery pick.
I have a tough time seeing that as progress.
Give me a break, you really expect Doug Collins to have the offense operating in harmony in his first preseason as Head Coach? Face it, the Sixers are young and HORRIBLE
Im so confused
What is Collins doing with this team?

It’s not Doug Collins. Ask yourselves this for a moment:
Does this team have shooters? I guess, but only one is a LEGIT Starter(Jrue Holiday).
Nocioni and Kapono, are roleplayers. They are consistent shooters and I appreciate what they bring in that role(I only wish Nocioni did a little more that’s not shooting)
Do we have offensively talented big men? Well, we have chuckers if that counts for anything but no offensively talented big men per say.
I needn’t say anything about our front-court defense.
The only thing we have, is a stud PG(Holiday) and a project(Turner) with alot of upside. And THAT’S IT. We have a solid roleplayer/semi-starter in Iguodala and pretty much that’s all she wrote.
Break this crap up as much as possible.
