I’m between ehh and thumbs up. I think overall its an improvement, but really at a loss at why they couldn’t have done a better job.

Like I said before, the thin border around the numbers and SIXERS was a design element they should have kept. I feel like now they have a cheap ironed on type look. Also the border helps tone down the harsh contrast between the letters and the SIXERS logo.

You're right.

They could be a little better, but overall I’m pleased.

Exactly

letter and number bordering, at least for the home jersey – away is sweet like it is.
Still a thumbs up though.. a lot better than what they had!

Like this but maybe get rid of the stripes at the waistband.

I do like how they did away with the red/white/blue striping at the waistband and edges. But IMO they should have kept a small border around the numbers and logo. But maybe I’m nit picking… just my 1st impression is cheap looking.

See I actually like the waistband.

There’s no way they could’ve created a uni that everyone would’ve liked.

Could have been worse...

There is always this retro look:

BTW, last years throwbacks:

Those aren't terrible

if the blue streak continued onto the shorts they’d be a lot better.

Maybe we should just go back to the old red army look.

We need to be less like the Clippers.

We already went with Brand/Miller, and the Clippers curse followed them here.

I've always liked the Clips uni's.

But I don’t like that we’re going to look like them, for the simple reason that, well, they’re the Clippers.

hahaha brand in the picture is like ehhhhh

eff you we winning anyway

I never understood the blueish-purple unis we wore a few years ago. I always liked the black though. These new unis are far more Philly in the patriotic/liberty sense.

I can’t find a single jersey that doesn’t have trim around it’s name/numbers besides ours.

Just read this on the 700level.
One interesting note from the day: Don’t be shocked if the uniforms you saw today receive a tweak either later in the season or before the start of the 2010-2011 campaign. From someone with the Sixers who I talked to, there may be a minor tweak to the coloring of the “SIXERS” font and numbering, perhaps an outline of some sort. Nothing confirmed but I’d expect the current iteration to be slightly different down the road.

Sounds great

Then again.

Why would they be making such a big deal of these, and attempting to sell mass amounts if the jerseys will be tweaked?

ehh, I’ll get used to it. Just excited for the season.

I asked Mike Preston via Twitter and he said:
The uniforms unveiled today will be the same ones you see on opening night.

they're a little bit boring

i guess i’m not a big fan of the boxy block lettering scheme they went with. why not have more modern looking jerseys and then just wear throwbacks when you want the retro look? all this time spent on creating a new uniform, and this is the best they could come up with? it’s not very creative… that said, i appreciate the simplicity of the jersey, and the one major thing i’d change is the lettering.

1) i’d change the font to a less deliberate, boxy font

2) a lot of you have mentioned this already, but an outline would really help. on the red jersey, i think it’d really look nice to have blue lettering with white outline. the white home jerseys have nice contrast because the “Sixers”/player name are blue while the numbers are red- it’d be nice if the road jerseys had that too.

3) i’d like to know what the jersey would look like with the circle logo on the top of the back of the jersey, right above the name. it might add a little somethin’-somethin’ to it.

4) i’d love to see a blue alternate jersey. i think it’d add some variety and look really nice too. blue, red trim with white accents, white lettering with red outlining. that would be pretty cool IMO.

i’m pretty much with the first guy. i’m between “ehhh” and thumbs up because they took a long time to come up with something not creative, and they really have a lot of room for improvement/modernization. i know they’re going for a throwback, simple look, but i think they need to add some modern flair in there to balance it out.

I like all your points.

We’ve all mentioned the outline around the numbers and letters. I think that’s everyone’s biggest issue with the uni’s. I haven’t heard the logo over the name though. I think that’s a really good idea, because it would clearly differentiate us from the Clippers. The blue alternate would also be sweet.
