Around SBN: The Week In Worst: When Baseball Goes Wrong

Poll: Rate your enthusiasm

The lack of Sixers enthusiasm over the past month or so has been depressing. Not even I am immune to it. I apologize for the lack of postage this week. I realize it's about time I got back in the grove of writing everyday before the pre-season festivities begin.

Here's a simple task for you -- the readers -- to get back in the swing of things as well. As of August 25, 2009, rate your enthusiasm for the upcoming season on a scale of 1-10.

P.S. For those of you in the Mock GM League, don't forget about our version of the college draft this Sunday.

Sorry

But I voted poopy.

No longer full-time blogging at Ridiculous Upside, but still go check them out since I made them. Kind of.

Scott.

You’ll be glad to know my blogging hiatus was because I had a brief stint as a professional EA Sports Shootout participant.

I would have more enthusiasm if it was closer to the season, right now I am focused on the Eagles and Phillies, so I gave my enthusiasm a 5

Real hard to get real excited given no big signings and season still 2 months away.

I thought Primoz Brezec was plenty “big”.

In all seriousness.

I think the lack of activity by the front office has been the biggest downer. “Big” signings or not, I still believe there were some bargains out there, and still are.

I agree 100%. I am very disappointed that we don’t have another shooter signed. I was very excited about Reggie heading north, however. Was tired of him wasting a space on the bench.

Jordan, my love for basketball was the only thing that upped my vote to a 5. Basketball was my first sports experience from playing outdoors as a kid and intramurals.

Alas, fantasy football and the approaching football season has basically filled my sports void and with the approaching end of the phillies season is feeding my playoff hunger. The sixers? I play them on NBA 2k9 sometimes? I’ll get more psyched once the season nears.

I just can't not get excited.

I agree with what everyone’s said. But it’s my sport, and it’s my team. I have no way to not be enthusiastic. I’m just as distracted by fantasy football and the phillies’ prospects for a repeat as anyone else. But I’m going to be excited for the return of the world’s best basketball no matter what.

Yeah.

I think we’ll all be 8-10’s come October.

Love the Sixers

But it’s Eagles season and that is all I am focused on.

Not excited for this summer of inactivity

But fired up for the season. Want to see the new offense. Excited to see if Young, Speights and Lou step up their games. Want to see a healthy brand. Curious to see how the team plays without Miller.

My expectations are lower than last year, but that is probably a good thing. Can’t wait for basketball, but will continue to enjoy the Phillies (unless Lidge is playing) and hopefully Eagles until November rolls around. As for the off-season, it has blown.

It is getting harder and harder to watch the Phils (which I love) with the way our closer is doing. Kind of waiting for the implosion. Liked what the tv guys said last night, they need to score enough runs so we don’t need a closer!

Makes me appreciate basketball much more!

Stupid comma

Copy and paste the link, since the comma apparently screws it up. OY!

Eagles aren’t anything to watch out for… as for the Phillies…I can’t wait for some October baseball…

Just set the standard low so you don't have to expect anything.

We’ll probably just reach the playoffs and get booted in the first round. It’s called realism.

WELCOME TO THE ZONE.

I want playoffs and development. Anything beyond that is gravy.
