I like him

upside is the key, in a couple of years an excellent player

/hopefully he gets more playing time then Willie Green this year. The reason why I am saying that is because I have read in the past that Eddie Jordan supposedly has a thing against playing rookies.

Still a nice night just getting another ‘steal’ in the first round hopefully – no second round pick disappinting – but second round picks don’t pan out as often as people want to think they do – it’s just easier to remember those that did pan out versus those that didn’t.

Was going to be a very long important free agency for the sixers and still is going to be. The 2nd round pick wasn’t going to guarantee anything – just gravy on top of Holiday.

Now

Get rid of Sam, and willie, but find a guy to start in the middle who isn’t brand (gortat)
Strengthen the bench
and find a place holder point guard for a couple years who doesn’t entirely suck

I know it's mostly senior college guys with limited upside left

But if they have a specified talent (i.e. Dionte Christmas and Tyrese Rice – shooting or Garrett Siler – rebounding), they could have value at the professional level. I feel like a lot of these second round picks could make some noise. I’d rather have a draft pick for cheap than sign an overvalued NBA veteran to a bigger deal (Jamaal Magloire, Stromile Swift to name a few).

Still hoping somehow we make a move.

sixers draft grade- C- right now but if this holiday fellow does indeed perform for us that grade can easily be moved up into the B range, maybe in fact A range.

In the NBA draft, you can get an A if you get one player that it turns out can really play. Especially if you aren’t in the top 3-5 picks.

Ridiculous

"Someone created the box score," Morey says, "and he should be shot."

Blocked shots — they look great, but unless you secure the ball afterward, you haven’t helped your team all that much.

Have mixed feelings overall

Wanted Maynor – NO
Wanted a 2nd pick – NO
Wanted more than just the “one pick” action – NO

BUT, Christmas is available, and he would make everything better.

I didn’t like the Holiday pick at first, but by the morning, I’ll be okay with it.

I wonder what the pick says about Miller?

If they resign Miller, drafting a player with big upside that needs time to learn makes sense. If he walks… then it becomes a little more hard to figure.

by JasonB on Jun 25, 2009 9:16 PM PDT reply actions

I don’t think this affect’s Miller at all, his top two choices are us and Portland and if he gets butt hurt over this we do a sign and trade with Portland since they won’t be able to afford him with their current cap. I think he should be happy we got Jrue so he won’t be as tired at the end of the season when we need him.

So some reports compare him to Russel Westbrook.

Also he apparently shut down Maynor when the two went head to head.
