Who is Tywon Lawson?
There is a strong possibility Ty Lawson becomes a Philadelphia 76er on Thursday night. There's also a solid chance he's our starting point guard for years to come.
That said, here's an awesome write-up on his recent workout with the TrailBlazers. Ironically, it's a must read for Sixers fans.

Chad Buchanan has now twice said in two days that he believes the ideal NBA system for Lawson is an up-tempo system.
How’s the Princeton in terms of tempo?

As far as possessions per game...
I believe it’s in the top third of the league. That said, I’ve read numerous articles where both Jordan and Stefanski have said that even though they’re going to run a form of the Princeton offense they will maintain the up-tempo style.
Not surprised to read this since I never bought into it either
Is Jameer Nelson a fair comparison for him?
Nah. I think Ty’s got great speed. Jameer was really kind of tricky with the ball. I think Ty, if you want to play fast he’s going to be very fast whereas Jameer, he can play fast but he’s more a pick and roll type point guard. People compare them because of their size but I think their games are a little different.
This is asked of chad buchanan – a blazers scout – who is very high on lawson – no big surprise that he turned up #1 in the hollinger system

I've been saying Jameer for weeks.
But after reading Ben’s post, all I pictured was T.J. Ford. I’m not sure if that’s good or bad.
I’m a big TJ Ford fan – never sure why but always have been – bummed the sixers never figured out how to get him, so I’m biased.
I think it’s just a good lesson that just cause two guys look alike dosn’t mean they have similar games :)
The ‘shot put’ thing concerned me – he won’t get that off in the NBA
Also – aside from a small reference to his A:TO – no mention of court vision and passing.

I'm torn between him and Maynor.
At least one, if not both, should be there at 17. I think I’ll be happy with either one.
At this point I’m leaning more towards Lawson – they both have holes in their games but Lawson has more intangible stuff that I like – but than again, I haven’t heard drop one about an interview with Maynor (which is disconcerting in general actually) from anyone. He’s been an awfully quiet draft prospect.

Rather figure out how to get Rondo out of Boston :)
I’m not so impressed with Rubio – not just his game – but the whole way he’s been playing the draft process…I find the NBA draft process a mess but Rubio has basically only worked out for one team, without any competition…what’s he scared of?
Rubio has a lot of upside – but there’s a lot of warning signs about him and a lot of hype – too much in my opinion

If the rumors are true ‘attitude’ problems – but attitude problems are curable – and if Rondo wants to make big money in the NBA he’ll learn…i’d rather have his talent with an attitude to work on (besides the sixers need a little give me the ball attitude) than a guy who MIGHT have the talent but who knows.
Remember, weak ass draft, guys are going to get talked up to make the draft interesting, but still, weak ass draft

Speights and Lou
But I’m not sure that would get it done. We’d also have to throw in some cash because on Trade Machine the salaries don’t quite match up. Calderon would make our team a contender fairly quickly. This, however, would make our bench really (really) bad.
Not saying it’s gonna happen, but just for funsies….
PG – Calderon
SG – Iguodala
SF – Young
PF – Brand
C – Dalembert
BENCH – Jason Smith, Bill Green, Jason Kapono, draft pick (we’d need a backup point, but also frountcourt help)
Good starting 5, ugly bench. And since when am I Robin? Do I get to wear the super-cool outfit?

I think Sixer fans need to be realist about the chances of moving Dalembert this off season. He is nearly untradeable — I’ve heard that from a very reliable person. Right now, the Sixers couldn’t give him away. I know they are trying to find a place for him, but there is the 15 % trade kicker he would be owed on top of his salary — and he isn’t allowed to wave that kicker. It could happen, if a team has a similar contract they want to unload, but right now I think Dalembert will still be with the Sixers for this season.

I don't want to trade Lou just to move up a couple spots.
I feel Maynor, Lawson and possibly Jennings aren’t much worse than someone like Flynn. Lou might have some annoying tendancies, but I still think he’s a solid role player. He’s just not what everyone hoped he’d be last year.
Let me ask you this
Would you trade the #17 pick and Evans for the #22, Sergio Rodriguez and a second rounder?
I have no idea who the Blazers are targeting, but the idea of Sergio going to the Sixers still really appeals to me. He would certainly have some growing pains if he were to be an NBA starter, but the team that he would excel on would be a running team. He’s been in the clutches of Nate and has been steadily eliminating his mistakes and even playing some D, and he still has all the potential in the world. If someone were to give him the reigns it could pay huge dividends in the right situation, and I think the Sixers are a good fit and have an opportunity to roll the dice on him. Meanwhile, the Blazers aren’t a running team, and they have a lot more suitable options at point with Blake filling a solid role and Bayless is someone that the Blazers think would play the part very well. So would that be something you could sink your teeth into?
As far as the Blazers are concerned, moving up 5 spots in the draft couldn’t hurt. There is still too much talent on the roster, and giving minutes to everyone who deserves them would be like trying to fit 550 jigsaw puzzle pieces into a frame of 500. It won’t work and eventually something is going to cause it to break. They could package the number 17 and another loose piece (Travis Outlaw?) to get a nice haul. Maybe too much maneuvering, but like I said, I’m a big Sergio fan and think he would be a great fit in Philly.
It took my two years to come up with an avatar and sig

If you are referring to Reggie Evans, he is already gone. He went to Toronto as part of the Kapono trade.
Oh. Guess that shows how much attention I've been paying to ball lately.
Thanks.
It took my two years to come up with an avatar and sig
and this is the best I could come up with.
So how about
just Sergio and the 38th pick for the #17 pick? That would give Portland some ammo to land a big trade with the 17 and 22 picks, and it would give you Sergio (probably as good a point as any you could get at 17) and some depth with the 38th pick.

I am listening to a podcast right now of an interview that Eskin did with Bob Salmi and Salmi said that unlike popular belief Andre hasn’t shut the door on Philly since Andre told him while he they were out in Denver and that Andre wants a 3-4 year contract. If you were Stefanski how many years would you offer Andre?
fightlockdown.com
One
Either try to get some value for him in a sign and trade, or let him walk and see that there’s not that much money to be had, then sign a one year deal with us. It’s highly unlikely either of those happen, which is why I think he’s gone. One year would be great for the point guard we draft in 18 hours to develop.

If Andre wants a 2 year deal with some sort of mutual option for a 3rd year, that’s fine – Andre should realize how old he is and get over it.
