Minnesota & Washington Trade

Minnesota trades Randy Foye and Mike Miller to Washington for #5 overall pick, Darius Songaila, Etan Thomas, and Oleksiy Pecherov

i think it's a great trade for both sides.. if Gil-Zero comes back 100%, i love Foye to be the starting point for them.. Miller will make a great sixth man as well

as for Minny -- what do you think is on their minds now holding the #5 and #6 overall picks in the draft? will they go with Steph Curry to replace Foye?

The wizards are a mediocre team with bloated contracts for guys not worth what they’re being paid – grunwald is trying to save his job – this adds more mediocrity to the team…and it allows kahn to make his big splash and try and get #2…I guess.

Surprised the wiz didn’t make em wait – sweat it out – push the value up

"Someone created the box score," Morey says, "and he should be shot."

Blocked shots — they look great, but unless you secure the ball afterward, you haven’t helped your team all that much.

Andy Katz reporting that the Wolves will make the 5 and 6 picks and trade neither.

Also – and I just find this weird – the hold up in the trade is a promise from Etan Thomas that he won’t opt out of his contract?

It’s not a hold-up in that they don’t expect him to do it… it’s considered to be more or less a formality. The trade can’t be official until he does it though.

WEll what I mean is that who the hell wants a promis from Etan Thomas he won’t opt out?

I suppose they just want him to have trade value next February?:)

It doesn’t matter what they want, it’s an NBA requirement. If he’s going to be a FA on July 1 he can’t be traded.

Besides, no mocking Etan Thomas! He’s a Syracuse player, and therefore superior to the rest of the world.

I"m assuming we’re only talking basketball and not academically.

Hey now!

(Went to grad school at Syracuse, graduated in ‘03)
(fearing Jonny Flynn to the Knicks. Don’t want to have to hate him)

Shaq’s going there this off season right?

Case rested

BTW – that’s a silly clause I feel – if dude is under contract he should be able to be traded, regardless of when he can opt out

Two teams come to mind.

Blazers w/ Aldridge and Roy in ’06.
Thunder w/ Durant and Green in ’07.

If Minnesota could pull off anything like that with their four first rounders, they’d be in amazing shape. Ironically all three teams are in the same division.

This draft just ain’t that good…as either of them…
