Question from a Trailblazer Fan...
As you guys may or may not know, most of us over at Blazer's Edge are constantly debating who in the league could be our long-term answer at point guard. We love Steve Blake, but think he is better suited to a back-up roll. One guard that has been coming up often is the Philadelphia 76ers Louis Williams. I have definitely heard of him, and seen a few highlights, but don't really know much about him. I thought I'd come to the authority and get your opinions. Do you guys lilke him? Do you think he could develop into a point guard capable of leading a team (along with Brandon Roy and back-up PG Steve Blake) deep into the playoffs? Thanks in advance for your insight. I look forward to reading your thoughts.

He's ok.
The only think I’d really miss would be hearing LLLLLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOUUUUUUUUUUUuuuuuuuuuuu…….. after everytime he makes a shot
umm uhh. i think that he deserves at least oden and roy and jerryd bayless… and if you can somehow win us the draft lottery..

KP is pretty busy...
I’ll see what he can do.

seriously though, he sucks… at least in the role that i (along with mr. anti-billy king) were expecting him to fulfill in the future/next year; which is as the future point guard. i can’t tell you how many times i’ve seen him lead the fast break and couldn’t find an open lane so he just pulled the ball back out to the perimeter (sorry for shitty grammar) when it’s like a 4 on 1… this guy’s passing and decisions just don’t excite me other than the alley-oops that he throws to speights.. but that’s mostly speights..

A poor man's Allen Iverson.
If you’re looking for a true point guard, Lou isn’t your guy. He dribbles too much. He makes a lot of stupid decisions. He’s a horrible defender considering how athletic he is. His jumpshot is mediocre at best.
His ability to get to the basket is amazing, and he’s crazy athletic, but he’s not an NBA point guard.
Does he have potential? Yes. Will he ever reach it? Probably not.
I haven’t see much of Bayless, but from what I know, they’re pretty similar.
Take my advice. You do not want Louis Williams.
Shame you aren’t the blazers gm
you could have him for blake

Blocked shots — they look great, but unless you secure the ball afterward, you haven’t helped your team all that much.

There you go!
Honestly, that’s a fair trade… and I’m guessing both GMs would go for it.
If Pritchard would make that trade, he’s a worse GM then he’s given credit for

Pfff...
The guy doesn’t seem to make trades at all.
I think of a trade like Lou for Blake as one that would benefit both teams, even though Blake’s almost definitely the better player. Sometimes you make those trades. So, I’d call it more of a gamble on Portland’s end, but not something Portland fans would throw up their arms in disgust about.
And remember… we have the benefit of “enjoying” the Lou Will experience for four years now. They don’t. They’d think they’re getting a crafty, speedy combo guard who can score at will, since that’s how the media consistently portrays him. Heck, they’d probably think they were getting the BETTER end of things…. until half way through the season. ;)
Don’t confuse FANS with GMs – GMs know all the players in the league so much better than fans…if the blazers were thinking about Lou do you somehow think they wouldn’t have access to ALL of the NBA filim that has Lou Williams on it? Do you think they’d just look at a couple games against the blazers and some stat lines?
Lou Williams has only played major minutes for 2 seasons

Frankly...
I think I did a very good job distinguishing between GMs and fans. I’ll make it even clearer for you, Mags, since I can tell you need some help here.
GMs do, indeed, know everything about every player. They have access to everything they need to make what they believe will be sound personnel-related decisions. If Pritchard thinks his Blazers will benefit from a trade of Blake for Lou, he’ll pull the trigger. If not, no go.
Fans are different. Most of them, including Mr. Forsythe, who crafted this Fanpost, only know what the mainstream media offers them. Remember what he said?
“One guard that has been coming up often [among Portland fans] is the Philadelphia 76ers Louis Williams. I have definitely heard of him, and seen a few highlights, but don’t really know much about him. I thought I’d come to the authority and get your opinions.”
So, some fans dig deeper than others – visiting a myriad of blogs and websites to get the real dirt – but they’re in the huge minority. Most fans watch Sportscenter and the local news and that’s it. And what are they hearing? Well, they’re hearing about the phenom, scoring machine in Philly who provides this incredible spark off the bench. I watched every Sixers game this year on League Pass. Not one announcer from another team had a single bad thing to say about Lou, regardless of what he did that night on the court. They were all in love with the guy for no apparent reason. That’s Lou’s reputation everywhere outside Pennsylvania.
So, yeah… the smart GM talks to his scouts and finds out what Lou’s really about. And he probably doesn’t trade Steve Blake for him. But, if he does, do you really think his team’s fans are going to call for his head? Not likely, my friend. They’ll all be praising him for bringing in an athletic, young scoring machine who can penetrate and dish to Roy and Rudy. They’ll only find out much later that they were dead wrong about what they were getting.
Word up.
That’s a whole lot of words there. A PSU education might be worth more than I thought. Of course you didn’t actually respond to the point…which was that just because a number of fans have interest in Lou Williams doesn’t mean Kevin Pritchard is as stupid.

Lou Williams
Does he still have that radio show? haha that’s probably the only reason he’s still here.
why does he have a radio show? waste of time and space in the city of brotherly love, he should play for memphis.
Or...
just tell him that the supersonics are making a comeback and we traded him for cap room. Then buy him a one-way ticket, never call him back, and burn all his mail.

I've already asked you for suggestions, but I forgot to write 'em down.
I decided that one of my books is going to be that book on the Cowboys of the early 90’s, because that interests me. It might not be the best-written book out there, but I think it’s good to start with something that interests me.
I’m all ears for the second book though.
remember the afl

If you’re a football fan read the blind side – it’s the story of the development of the importance of the left tackle in the nfl but it’s also the story of michael oehr and all the crap he went through before he was one oof the lucky few to be saved from a horrible life.
