Around SBN: In Crunch Time, Spurs Don't Change Their Game

Hat tip to dolphin341 for the FanPost.

Jordan and Tommy T were my two choices, so I'm happy. I wouldn't say I'm ecstatic -- but I'm happy. There really wasn't much else out there.

I'm on the road right now, so more on this when I get home. Until then, read the 'Getting to Know Eddie Jordan' piece for the hundreth time.

Ladies and Gentlemen... Eddie Jordan!

I can’t believe how much hate this hire is getting.

It’s philadlephia – ANY hire would get hate :)

"Someone created the box score," Morey says, "and he should be shot."

Blocked shots — they look great, but unless you secure the ball afterward, you haven’t helped your team all that much.

I can

He has never had a winning team in his nba stops, why should I be excited. I think they hired him to be cheap because the wizards have to pay the difference between what the sixers pay. Not ecstatic at all with this. I predict more playoff mediocriy.. But the last time in this town someones friend was hired as coach it worked out very well. Lets hope we do !

Wieters is HERE and The Phils are in First, doesn't get much better:)

I'm pretty sure

He had a couple winning teams in Washington and if he didn’t coach the Kings in 97-98(I think?) he wouldn’t have a losing record.

Congratulations

I didn’t think this would end up being Philly’s decision because I figured that if they were truly committed to Elton Brand they could find a way to get Avery Johnson.

I guess that reasoning didn’t hold. I suppose the timing is what I find most interesting about this. I don’t think it’s a coincidence that the Kings finish 4th, and then just like that Jordan decides Philly is a better deal. Maybe it is, and for his sake and Sixer fans, I hope so.

Good luck to EJ and the Sixers. Seeing them all succeed would hardly be the worst thing in the history of the NBA.

I wonder how our defense will do under Jordan. I read on either csnphilly or philly.com that Jordan gets a bad rap for defense because he had to adjust his style to all of his players

Well, the defense sucked under DiLeo, so I mean I doubt it’ll be that much of a drop off. Plus, like you said, the last couple teams Jordan has coached were filled with players who could be bothered to play D.

The defense has sucked since Brown bailed when he saw the iceberg coming…expecting a quick fix to an obvious organizational flaw is going to make people frustrated

ehhh Ed went with established and friendship

I wanted the assistant from Boston badly….

WHat exactly do you know about his coaching resume except the media hype? How was bostons defense without KG? How well was that adjustment in the playoffs.

Or was it?

Yeah this pick is taking a beating, but I seem to remember not too long ago where Jordan was the top assistant everyone thought should be a head coach.

I’m willing to give him a shot. I mean, how bad was Doc Rivers before going to Boston? What about Stan Van Gundy before Orlando? Sometimes it just takes the right situation.

i hope they succeed too

but… i’ve got my doubts
EJ has never impressed me as a coach…

but heres to hoping i’m wrong
