Sixers Hire Eddie Jordan as New Head Coach
The Philadephia 76ers and Eddie Jordan have agreed in a 3 year deal. The amount has not yet been revealed.
In Jordan's career as a coach he is 230-288. Yeah, that's a losing record. But what else is new. It seems that the 76ers front office is determined to get the most talented players out their, but put them with a coach that is unable to get the most out of them.
Maybe, and hopefully, Jordan will prove me wrong, and right now the only thing that he could do to displease me is to give up on the fast break, and starts to use a set offense more than the break.

There honestly wasn't much out there.
Thibodeau and Casey could potentially be great coaches, but who knows. The list to choose from wasn’t very good.

Honestly, a few weeks ago I wouldn’t have been happy… now, I like it. I would’ve liked Jay Wright, but he wasn’t leaving Villanova. Eddie Jordan was the best of the group that was out there.
If you don’t htink jordan got the most out of that mediocre collection of flotsam in Washington, yo uthink Arenas is worth the 100s of millions he has.
Jordan is a better hire than most of the candidates and maybe they didn’t like thibodeau.
This hopefully means the end of Sam Dlaembert

Blocked shots — they look great, but unless you secure the ball afterward, you haven’t helped your team all that much.

ha I was just gonna say that
about what he managed to do in washington.
Probably best available coach, I’m not suprised we took him. That also means I expect him to perform like the best available coach, so we will see how he does.
Roadrunner to Philly!

Keep in mind that if ed can’t do it – he’s stuck with sam and reggie and willie who will kill that offense.
He probably was the best available coach with experience as an nba head coach, whether or not the best candidate, well that’s a pretty vociferous debate on the sixer blogosphere

Who says Reggie has to play with Speights and Smith here?
They are hating this hire on the WIP right now.

WIP knows less about basketball than I do
and baseball
and football
and eagles
They know how to ‘rile’ their audience and how to be subtlely racist at the same time without being too overt

If we would get rid of sammy
then our fast break offense would all go down hill. He is one of the quickest centers in the league, and helps our fast break tremendously. Sammy is good when he is on too. Sammy is our x-factor. When he is on, we will automatically win.

Why do so many people hate this hire?
He was the guy I wanted from the group we interviewed. Thibodeau is intriguing, but other than that, nobody out there really moved me.
Not to mention the Wizards never really should’ve fired him.
There are some knocks on his actual coaching craftiness, but the system he established with the Wizards made them pretty consistent, and when they were healthy they won.
My initial thoughts are that Jordan has a decent chance of figuring out how to get Brand involved without sacrificing the talents of Igoudala, Thaddeus, et. al., and that perhaps having a semi-respected/liked coach on board will give us a better chance at bringing back Miller.
I don’t know … I saw the reaction in the philly.com poll, and it was overwhelmingly against, so I came here for some actual insight. I’d at least like to see some support for why this is disliked …
It’s the guy I wanted the whole time. I’m pleased.
Still waiting for the Eagles to Bring It Home For Jerome
In truth, Jordan’s approach allowed Antawn Jamison, Caron Butler and Gilbert Arenas to become first-time All-Stars in Washington. His teams went to the playoffs in four of his five full seasons with the Wizards.
