Monday Mocks: 31 days...

2009 Mock Draft -- PG Eric Maynor

nba-draft.com -- PG Jonny Flynn

NBA Draft Guru -- PG Eric Maynor

Ridiculous Upside -- PG Jrue Holliday

NBA Draft Day Countdown -- PG Jonny Flynn

NBADraft.net -- PG Ty Lawson

I'd honestly be happy with any of these guys. Here's my unofficial ranking of the four guys:

Flynn

Lawson

Holliday

Maynor

Keep in mind, me ranking NBA Draft prospects is like Sam Dalembert teaching a "How to catch a basketball" class. That's why I'm still waiting for the Liberty Ballers official draft board ;) Eh em!

Just for fun, here's a collection of mock drafts I posted exactly one year ago. The five guys in the mocks were: M16, Darrell Arthur, DeAndre Jordan, JaVale McGee and Donte Greene. I'd say the Sixers made the right selection.

Here's what I had to say about Speights:

Nasty athleticism, very raw, but would fit in nicely with this Sixer team. Plus he has a ton of potential.

You might ask yourself, who had the Sixers picking Speights on May 25, 2008? NBADraft.net. So, who does NBADraft.net have the Sixers taking one year later? Ty Lawson. Let's hope they're right again.

Once again… Flynn. I doubt he’ll be there, but I would LOVE to see him on this team.

The first round is done

And we’re pumping out the second. should be done in about a week. then we’ll probably adjust it a little when inevitably, guys pull their names out before the deadline. And if we take Holiday, I’ll spit everywhere.

I love reading your mock draft posts,

so thank you for your continued updates.

Lawson or Flynn is a win-win, but I certainly would not complain about maynor.

and the bit about NBAdraft.net is really getting my hopes up. can they go 2 in a row?

well if it means anything

i was all about marresse speights last year, thinking he was too perfect to pass up and we all know how he did.

this year, i would be going with my fellow ‘cuse alum flynn, but i highly doubt he’ll be there when we pick. but since ty lawson will likely be around and he sounds perfect for the team, there’s my pick.

though then we’d have a starting back court of either lawson (6’) and green (6’3") or williams (6’2"). that’s kinda small, though iguodala could shoulder some of the defensive responsibilities if need be. wish we could have gotten a young, tall PG like crittendon to help bring along with lou (or scrap lou and try to get a SG with our pick this year), but oh well.

I need a Holiday

Jrue Holiday

Nice sized point guard who can also play the 2.

Fantastic court awareness and can dish in traffic and on the run.

Still growing, still learning and he’s got the hunger that will make him a star in the NBA.

High basketball IQ.

Always helps old ladies across the street.

Loves to defend!!! YES! LOVES TO DEFEND! Heaven, send me an angel. Send Jrue to Philly.

Chad Ford ‘2.0’ still has sixers taking Maynor

"Someone created the box score," Morey says, "and he should be shot."

Blocked shots — they look great, but unless you secure the ball afterward, you haven’t helped your team all that much.

Here’’s a second one with lawson falling to 17

who to pick

i think it should be obvious to everyone that the last thing the Sixers need is another combo/guard type.. we either need to get a full blown point guard or a full blown shooter

assuming Miller doesn’t return, i don’t see how we could overlook PG as being our #1 priority.. Lou Will won’t ever be a starting point guard in the NBA, and as much as some like to think Iggy at the 1 works — it doesn’t.. at least not as well as Iggy at the 2/3

since we got locked into the 17th overall pick, two and only two names have been on my draft board for the Sixers — Maynor and Lawson.. at first i was in love with Lawson, thanks much in part to his March run with the Tarheels.. ultimately, though, i can’t see him being more than a backup or 20-30 minute a game change-of-pace guard in the L

Maynor’s size, ability to do it all (pass, shoot, defend) makes him the clear choice, in my eyes.. he’s NBA-ready and is no stranger to the big stage (see: downing Duke in the 1st round 3 years ago).. i think i’m at the point where i’ll only be happy with Maynor, slightly disappointed with Lawson (if Maynor’s still there obviously), and mad disappointed with anyone else (especially Flynn, Evans, Calathes, Budinger)

plus i had a dream lastnight that Maynor was our point and hit a buzzer-beater three from the corner to win us a game.. i shit you not

Lawson

I used to like Johnny Flynn but I now have sided completely with Lawson, so that’s good to hear he would like to play for us.

According to Chad Ford Flynn and Holiday really impressed at the pre draft combine and Lawson didn’t. I wonder what it would take to trade up for either Flynn or Holiday although I am fine with Lawson.

LAWSON

he is a winner. cant teach speed. he would torch flynn if they played against each other. whoever gets him will be happy, the sixers might actually make progress significantly if they get him and a quality big man. if brand shows up, the former unc-duke combo might be deadly, as long as lawson and brand can get along to play on same team after trying to slaughter their rival school in college.

by sixer83 on May 29, 2009 9:56 PM PDT reply actions

Aside from all the evidence being reported from the scouting combines and folks who watch him.

Not really sure what ’he’s a winner’ means – aside from that he played for one of the winngest franchises in college blal history…now – if he somehow went to San Diego State and made them a top 5 team in the country – then we could talk about him ‘being a winner’ – but being a winner at UNC is a lot like calling the 3rd base coach of the red sox a ‘winner’

Do you guys think...

Any teams would be dumb enough to give us a high 2nd rounder for either Reggie or Willie? Because I really want to draft Dionte Christmas.

Second Rounder?

You can buy em for 50,000 – remember the year the sixers drafted willie and kyle?

It's smart

with the free agent market as weak as it is, it’s low risk, high reward.
