Be interesting to see what, if anything, comes out of this meeting

I want them to keep DiLeo still, but only back in his old role…the one hes good at.
Back in the front office, the experience he picked up as interim coach should be pretty valuable for putting together a more complete team
They’ll spin it however they want – but regardless of what van gundy says – he didn’t do a good job – he was mediocre and didn’t deserve any more time as an NBA head coach – in my opinion
Let’s just hope he’s not angry cause the sixers would then lose a strong asset in the front office / scouting

I like JVG.

Based on listening to Philadelphia sports radio, I think the best thing for Andre Iguodala would be to trade him, hopefully to a city where the fans aren’t such complete and utter ignorant putzes

I think Mike MIsanelli is dumber than Howard Eskin…
“prefer josh smith” – i figure if you HOST a sports radio show you’d know there was no realistic shot at getting Josh Smith.
Good lord trade Iguodala – for his own good
Iguodala ‘sucks’ but you can trade him for a legitimate 2 guard…i see now

radio
there is absolutely NO RADIO HOST IN PHILLY that understands basketball. NONE, ZERO, ZIP. All are worthless. And actually Mike M is one of the better hosts overall. The closest to knowing basketaball is Jody Mac, 11-3 Espn
Oh don’t get me started on Jody Mac – if it was still 1950 and people ignored drinking and wife beating he might be knowledgable – today he’s a dinosaur who spits into the microphone.
Only reason i’m keeping this moron on is that people seem to TALK to him – stefanski in 25 minutes

That and J-Smoove would have been a bad fit. Pairing him with Iguodala and Miller would have created one of the most feared fast breaks in the NBA, but Smith is bad in half court too. He’s a terrible jump shooter and his shot selection skills are right on par with Lou Williams.
shh….he would have been ‘exciting’ which it turns out many fans want over a good team…they don’t want to win titles like the spurs as much as they want to be entertained.
Seriously – I listen to this crap and I realize moving home might not be the best idea in the world…of course then i remember cheese steaks, hoagies, and real cheese fries

Just got home from my summer class.
Not surprised by the move. I’m glad he’s not out of the organization completely. He’ll return to his assistant GM job, which I think he’s very good at.
I’m also happy a decision was finally made. The coaching search officially begins…
You guys will have to keep me updated on what Stefanski says. Or is it on the internet?

are we buyin
that dileo said right off the bat he didn’t want to be considered without ed saying anything?
No – I never buy the ‘spend time with my family’ excuse – i think it’s a nice face saving gesture – he wasn’t going to get the job but now they spin it this way – it’s his choice – and he can go back to the scouting thing.
Being head of an NBA scouting department has to be a complete grind as well – with alot – if not more — travel than being a coach?

2 reasons.
1.He already has a job in the organization.
2.He got torn apart after the game six debacle — by everyone, including his players.
I think it’s possible he didn’t enjoy his coaching experience and wanted to return to the front office.
By the way.
That job he already has (Assistant GM), he has proven that he’s good at, unlike coaching.
He’s proven he’s one of the best at it – which is one of the reasons I hated he became head coach since draft is a strength for the sixers in general.

He’ll take the best contract offered him – hopefully in a sign and trade – and i don’t begrudge him that – if someone offered me a heft raise over my current job i’d leave in a heart beat…i know fans see it differently – but it’s their job folks – and you take the best pay while you’re still in your prime

I also think playing for a championship contender matters to him.
And by the time the Sixers are ready to contend, he probably won’t be in the league.
I think if he came back, and the team remained relatively healthy we’d make it past the first round, but that’s about it.
Honestly – I don’t think that matters for any player until they’re at the ‘veterans minimum’ end of their career like when patyon and malone tried to win a title in Los Angeles. He’s still a solid player who can get a 3-4 year deal of good money – i just hope it’s a sign and trade – preferably with the blazers who have the most assets

The thing that annoys the hell out of me...
When it comes to everybody wanting to trade Sammy D is that they don’t realize that it is going to be next to impossible to do. Nobody is going to want his contract and then have a 15% trade kicker on top of it.
You’re assuming that those of us who want to trade sam don’t realize he has a trade kicker…i know he has a trade kicker – really don’t give a crap – give the team 3 million dollars – take back two equally awful players with equally long contracts
He’s a useless putz and should be off the sixers roster immediately as it makes me physically ill when he’s on the court

He wasn`t assuming people didn`t know about the trade kicker
He was saying people don`t realize it will be difficult to trade him. There is a difference.
I think people realize it will be difficult to trade him already since he sucks, hasn’t gotten better, and has a crappy contract…the people who post here are informed enough to know it’ll be difficult to trade sam

or willie

Stefanski hasn’t said much – though he has made some comments that indicate he’d never hire Larry Brown (which is nice)
Basically he saiid, he might listen to a coach, but he builds the team – and the coach he hires is going to have to work with the hand he’s dealt and get the most out of it and not be all whiney about what he doesn’t have on the roster…so no larry brown whiney coaches…(sorry – whining about the players on your roster is an excuse to me, plain and simple)….no names
He also said that a center combo of Speights Smith isn’t exactly out of the realm of possibility – not exaclty an endorsement of Mr Dalembert

Whew. Not surprised, but definitely relieved. He wasn’t that much of an improvement over Mo—Mo could have stayed and did what Tony did.
Glad to see him get back to the FO where he can be effective.
HC of a basketball team is often a thankless job. Tony was just a placeholder and that’s all I ever viewed him as in his role this season.
Get it right, Eddie. Don’t go for a big name; go for the right guy for the job. And get a G-D shooter for the love of Pistol Pete.
A note from a Jasner interview on Jody Mac
the Sam Dalembert trade kicker is a one time payment that amounts to 3.5 million dollars within 30 days of the trade.
As I understand it, an NBA team can contribute as much as 3 million dollars cash to facilitate the completion of a trade (it’s also my understanding that this 3 million dollars doesn’t factor into matching salaries).
If my understanding of those two things is correct – then the team receiving Sam Dalembert could make a payment of as little as 500K if the trade kicker is an issue.
Doesn’t seem like an awful lot – and 3 million dollars ‘more’ to get rid of sam doesn’t sound like too much to me.
