Regardless of what happens.

It’s been an amazing 82+ game season with you guys. The game thread chats will be missed… until draft day!!!!

Everybody rock Sixers gear tomorrow. Sam Dalembert’s jersey gets the nod from me.

by Jordan Sams on Apr 29, 2009 10:18 PM PDT reply actions

I always rock my Thad Young jersey when I watch the 76ers.

We need to take out Lewis and Turkoglu tonight and then I pretty much gaurentee a victory tonight if we do that or if we at least take out one which I think we can do. I know I have said this in other threads but I don’t want to play Theo tonight and I also since then probably don’t want to play Donny-Ice unless we absolutely have to.

M16

I want to see alot of M16 tonight. He needs the experience whether we win or lose for the playoffs. Next year is the possiblity of a run, this year is for experience.

Must. Defend. The. Three.

Seriously. The Sixers were horrible on defense in Game 5. Howard’s 24-24 didn’t exactly help, but giving up all those open looks at 3s were what really sunk them. Iggy and Thad need to stay glued to Lewis and Turk. Nobody leaves to help on Gortat in the post (if they even give him the ball — when you don’t go inside to Howard who’s shooting like 80%, what hope does the Polish Hammer have?), and don’t give them air space from beyond the arc. At all. Period. If Lewis or Turkoglu beats you off the dribble, so be it.

Threw up in my mouth a little- can’t stand when philadelphia sports fans use rocky to ‘motivate’ themselves – just feeds the stereotype that makes guys like reggie evans popular

"Someone created the box score," Morey says, "and he should be shot."

Blocked shots — they look great, but unless you secure the ball afterward, you haven’t helped your team all that much.

I'll be there as well

I expect a 15 point win

take the ball to the effin rim, until it burns…

I got free tickets to the game, i believe in a club box. Im glad I know 2 dumb sorority girls who work for the Sixers, they both were giving away tickets for the game lol

Lucky you.

Not that i live close enough to go anyway.

Foul called on Gortat.

1000000% sure that wouldn’t have been called on Dwight.

by Jordan Sams on Apr 30, 2009 4:44 PM PDT reply actions

horrible start...

if we don’t dominate over the course of this game, we can’t win game 7.

by SexualTyrannosaurus on Apr 30, 2009 4:50 PM PDT reply actions

Unfortunately, I've been saying today that I could see Rashard going for 30 and Hedo for 20 today

And that Iggy will have to come close to matching their combined production for the Sixers to have a chance.

by Saul on Apr 30, 2009 4:52 PM PDT reply actions

Why the hell are shooters open

Who do you need to double team without Howard???

by zfg on Apr 30, 2009 4:53 PM PDT reply actions

SOB!

Stop leaving guys open!

by chillicothe20 on Apr 30, 2009 4:55 PM PDT reply actions

@ the worst time

there’s no reason this team shouldn’t have come out with a ton of energy and started to dominate from the paint from the tip

by SexualTyrannosaurus on Apr 30, 2009 5:00 PM PDT up reply actions

It's like Dwight Howard is in the Sixers' brains

They are playing like there are 5 Howards on the court.

by chillicothe20 on Apr 30, 2009 5:02 PM PDT reply actions

What an awful, awful quarter.

However, they can’t shoot 64% all game.

by Saul on Apr 30, 2009 5:06 PM PDT reply actions

Excellent.

Theyre starting to drive.

by Saul on Apr 30, 2009 5:12 PM PDT reply actions

EFFFFFFFFFFFFFF

They’re doing what the Sixers need to be doing!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

by Saul on Apr 30, 2009 5:21 PM PDT reply actions

Another Tech on Orlando

We could be playing their towel persons and not be leading at this point

by chillicothe20 on Apr 30, 2009 5:23 PM PDT reply actions

OK

This game is proof that DiLeo should not be coach next year. Defense is horrifyingly bad, and the offensive gameplan/execution is miserable.

by zfg on Apr 30, 2009 5:26 PM PDT reply actions

and inexplicable.

What the hell are they doing out there? Were they coached at all?

by Saul on Apr 30, 2009 5:26 PM PDT up reply actions

agreed

i’ve been supporting DiLeo all year and I think he did a great job (for the most part) considering all the circumstances, but he doesn’t need to coach next year

by SexualTyrannosaurus on Apr 30, 2009 5:27 PM PDT up reply actions

The fact that the Sixers HAD a game plan to beat the Magic, and they’ve completely gone away from it.

by zfg on Apr 30, 2009 5:28 PM PDT up reply actions

Yeah

and here’s another example of how DiLeo is not a good coach: when somebody’s hot… he keeps leaving them oepn.

by zfg on Apr 30, 2009 5:32 PM PDT up reply actions

this is why basketball fans hate the nba

and nba team in the playoffs with absolutely no semblance of a structured offense. It’s a all one-on-one with maybe a 2-man game once in a while. Just pathetic. Part of coaching is execution and generating enthusiasm in your players. But also, who do the Sixers have besides AI and Miller who can create???

by phillynyc on Apr 30, 2009 5:34 PM PDT reply actions

I must admit that i just checked the score and wasn’t that shocked – and this is all on dileo – i’m sorry – they came out unpreapred or cocky or whatever – this first half right here is why tony dielo should not get the job

"Someone created the box score," Morey says, "and he should be shot."

Blocked shots — they look great, but unless you secure the ball afterward, you haven’t helped your team all that much.

by jemagee on Apr 30, 2009 5:39 PM PDT reply actions

I’m honestly not surprised either. Sad as that may be.

by zfg on Apr 30, 2009 5:40 PM PDT up reply actions

It’s obvious that the Magic are going to play the “Let’s win this one for Dwight!” card, so the Sixers better match their intensity, otherwise they’ll get blown out of the gym.

by Jordan Sams on Apr 30, 2009 5:42 PM PDT up reply actions

it's one thing to get out-played, it's another to not show up.

There was a column on philly.com about people not caring about the 76ers and this is precisely why.

by phillynyc on Apr 30, 2009 5:45 PM PDT up reply actions

So you could play for the sixers :)

Too soon?

I think former NBA players are the worst talking heads

I’m watching NBA TV with CWeb and Gary Payton and they suck.

Former NFL players are also just horrible at providing insight.

MLB players are probably the best of a very low bar.

that sad thing about a potential loss tonight

is that all the crappy “experts” that predicted a series win for Orlando are going to feel completely justified in their lack of confidence/respect in the Sixers….even after last years series against Detroit, the press looks back in retrospect and claims that Detroit was just playing around with us…this year will be no different

by SexualTyrannosaurus on Apr 30, 2009 6:08 PM PDT reply actions

omg

Thad Young needs to HOLD ONTO THE #%$($ BALL >:O

by eaqIes on Apr 30, 2009 6:10 PM PDT reply actions

What really bothers me about this is that the Sixers could have taken a lot of positives even out of a series loss, and that just went out the window.

Jordan

thanks for an awesome season. You did a fantastic job and gave me the perfect break from work and a place to celebrate/vent about my favorite team. I can’t wait for the draft night and for the 09-10 season. Let’s hope Elton can contribute next year, Thad and Iggy continue to work on their games, Bill and Sammy die of swine flu, Miller comes back or we get a good replacement, and DiLeo goes back to the front office.

by SexualTyrannosaurus on Apr 30, 2009 6:26 PM PDT reply actions

Here, Here

Jordan has been great, as have you all. We’ll all come back next season bigger and better than ever.

by chillicothe20 on Apr 30, 2009 6:28 PM PDT up reply actions

exactly

thanks jordan for providing a place for me to talk sixers with people (i know 0, yes 0, sixers fans – and i’m from 50 mins north of philly which is sad)… between the pictures we posted, to the theme songs, to the playoff beards, it was a fun season… i just wish it could have ended better…. here’s to Liberty Ballers!

by Tanner Steidel on Apr 30, 2009 6:35 PM PDT up reply actions

I'm way up here in New Hampshire

And I’m pretty sure I’m the only one within miles who’s a Sixers fan – heck, the only one who’s a basketball fan. To risk copying everyone else… I want to thank Jordan and everyone else here for being a place where we can all enjoy the Sixers together. I started coming here in the middle of the season, and I’ve read every preview and recap and been at as many game threads as I can manage. Thanks to everyone (except Willie Green) for a great season, and I look forward to next year!

What has gone wrong in games 5 and 6?

Did the Turkoglu 3 to end game 4 just kill our chances? Did that knock what wind we had out of our sails?

by chillicothe20 on Apr 30, 2009 6:42 PM PDT reply actions

It certainly didn't help

But the Sixers’ defense just completely fell apart. Then obviously if it becomes a shootout, the team doesn’t have the offensive firepower to do anything. And when they fall behind, Iggy and Lou start to rush things, then it REALLY spirals out of control. Basically, the Sixers found a strategy that worked (staying with perimeter players, going to the paint), then got the hell away from it.

by zfg on Apr 30, 2009 6:46 PM PDT up reply actions

Silver Lining

Hopefully this convinces Stefanski that we need a different coach.

I know tonight's loss must be tough to swallow for everyone here.

Just know that I applaud Philadephia’s effort throughout the series. The Sixers really tested Orlando and I think the Magic will benefit from the experience moving forward in the playoffs. Ditto with the Sixers.

Best of luck in the off-season and beyond.

I'm the other guy at Third Quarter Collapse, with a Twitter account.

I comment WAY too much.
