Forget everything else -- this is all that matters right now. We're seven hours away from the biggest game of the season. It's make or break for the Sixers. Which team will show up? Which crowd will show up?

Throw out all the stats and history. This game's going to be about adjustments and execution. The team who executes their gameplan more effectively will win the game -- simple as that.

  1. Don't double Dwight.
  2. No uncontested threes.
  3. Less than 20 minutes for Bill Green.
  4. Bench production.
  5. No foul trouble for Sammy and Theo.
  6. Energy, energy, energy.
The Wachovia Center better be rockin' tonight. 8 eastern. Be here.

Let's go Sixers!

Hopefully Sam can play more then 6 minutes in the first quarter because it will keep Reggie on the bench and keep Theo fresh for later in the game.

Exactly.

Hopefully we get the benefit of a few home calls as well.

by Jordan Sams on Apr 24, 2009 10:18 AM PDT up reply actions

We better...

Get some home calls or I will be pissed because Orlando was getting them left and right it seemed like.

what should I do Jordan?

game thread in Game 2 posting here was fun, but we eventually lost… I am superstitious… should I change site and try to win it or what? suggestions welcome, LOL

Advice.

Try another site for the first half and if it goes well, stick with em, if not, come back here for the second half.

The other scenario would be a 20-point lead for the Sixers. Then it’s safe to come back here and see what happens.

good idea, I'll do like this

thx

just FYI, also Game 3 is blackouted in Italy… like Game 1, and Game 2… I’ll have to find another streaming…

I could seriously watch that all day long.

Regardless of what happens for the rest of the series, we’ll always have that.

whenever i need to something to lift my spirits or get me pumped it just happens to come up on my computer

Bring back Big Shot

76ers will win once they ditch Hip Hop in favor of Big Shot.

Hip Hop is a false god and all who pray to him pray to a false idol. Big Shot is the only route to salvation!

Seriously, I haven’t followed the Sixers in a while… why did they oust Big Shot? He was awesome!

by cybourgeoisie on Apr 24, 2009 12:20 PM PDT reply actions

tonight is the night where playoff beards pay off…. i think the sixers will come out with a lot of energy on both ends of the floor… hopefully dileo realizes that it’s key to get out on the 3 point shooters and not worry about doubling super(foul)man… as jordan said before, everyone knows what it’s gonna take to win tonight but the one thing we have that orlando doesn’t is the x-factor aka the playoff beards

Clap your hands everybody

For Philadelphia 76ers
Stomp your feet, everybody
For Philadelphia 76ers
Here they come, Philadelphia
On the run, Stand up and cheer
1, 2, 3, 4, 5, Sixers
10, 9, 8, 76ers

P.S.

I friggin love this song. It’s so cheesy; it’s awesome!

by doubleh on Apr 24, 2009 3:35 PM PDT up reply actions

I've got it on my iPod

Along with “Phillies Phever”.

Here’s another link with old Dave Zinkoff intro over the song (79-80 team).

by doubleh on Apr 24, 2009 3:46 PM PDT up reply actions

this has to have won a grammy correct? haha i will be singing this song all night

by Tanner Steidel on Apr 24, 2009 4:41 PM PDT up reply actions

Probably not, but I like it. I read somewhere that some of the Sixers players listen to it before every game. Don’t know if that’s true or not, but I like to think so (because I listen to it before big games).

I think they should bring this bad boy back during intros for the playoffs and big games next year. They went retro with the unis; why not?

It works for the Flyers and Kate Smith.

by doubleh on Apr 24, 2009 4:47 PM PDT up reply actions

Yeah

There’s too much “pre” crap in the playoffs. Just had a CSN pre-game special with Barkann and John Celestand.

Dei was asking Green how he’s going to improve his game.

Haha.

by doubleh on Apr 24, 2009 4:52 PM PDT up reply actions

I hope his answer was.

“You know what, I feel like I’m the biggest offensive weapon on this team. I’m gonna start taking more shots.”

by Jordan Sams on Apr 24, 2009 4:55 PM PDT up reply actions

I honestly don’t remember his answer, because I was too busy yelling " I hate you, Willie Green!" to hear his reply.

Juvenile, I know. But I regress when I watch sports.

by doubleh on Apr 24, 2009 4:58 PM PDT reply actions

It's because they have no faith in this team

Philly has become a bandwagon basketball town. They want a superstar like the other big city teams have.

It’s sad, really. Especially for a team that loves college ball like Philly does. You’d think they’d be more behind this “team”.

by doubleh on Apr 24, 2009 5:10 PM PDT up reply actions

Magic's unis

Are ugly. Sorry, girl thing.

by doubleh on Apr 24, 2009 5:11 PM PDT reply actions

Ugh

Turkoglu’s got a face for radio. High def is sometimes a bad thing.

by doubleh on Apr 24, 2009 5:12 PM PDT reply actions

it's hard not too

he’s my first favorite player to be younger (no pun intended) than me so he feels like my child

by Tanner Steidel on Apr 24, 2009 5:26 PM PDT up reply actions

Anybody else

A little surprised Sammy hasn’t gotten foul trouble yet?

by The Legend on Apr 24, 2009 5:28 PM PDT reply actions

he always does

so annoying… someone needs to get him a bottle and a crib

by Tanner Steidel on Apr 24, 2009 5:30 PM PDT up reply actions

Dei is interviewing David Stern

I think I hate him more than Willie Green.

He says Iggy is going to be a big star.

by doubleh on Apr 24, 2009 5:45 PM PDT reply actions

Oh, no

Reggie going to lockerroom with trainer. Could be hurt.

by doubleh on Apr 24, 2009 5:50 PM PDT reply actions

Haha

Stat just showed that Sixers have shot more 3’s successfully than the Magic. Are we in bizarro world or what?

by doubleh on Apr 24, 2009 5:55 PM PDT reply actions

Donny-Ice!!!!!

If we can get Superman one more foul we will be in real good shape since he is the only one making anyhting for them.

by The Legend on Apr 24, 2009 5:55 PM PDT reply actions

Sixers being stupid now

Don’t shift the momentum and give them free points

by doubleh on Apr 24, 2009 6:00 PM PDT reply actions

I 100% agree with what Legler just said a minute ago and that is Iggy isn’t a 30-35ppg guy like it seems like everybody wants him to be he is a guy that will average 20-25ppg 7-8rpg and 7-8apg.

by The Legend on Apr 24, 2009 6:16 PM PDT reply actions

Celestand

Talking about how he and Andre Miller were in the same draft. Sometimes you forget what a geezer Miller really is (comparitively speaking).

by doubleh on Apr 24, 2009 6:19 PM PDT reply actions

Just got in

was listening on satelite radio. Sounds like we were playing pretty well. I heard Willie Green’s name way too much.

by chillicothe20 on Apr 24, 2009 6:27 PM PDT reply actions

lead isn't safe

Sixers have done this to me before.

by chillicothe20 on Apr 24, 2009 6:36 PM PDT reply actions

Bill?

Really?

I thought we hated that he played some much in gm 2?

by chillicothe20 on Apr 24, 2009 6:40 PM PDT reply actions

Again, have only seen last few minutes...

is Orlando playing badly or are we stepping up? or both?

by chillicothe20 on Apr 24, 2009 6:43 PM PDT reply actions

i'd say both

oddly enough our perimeter d is awesome so far

by Tanner Steidel on Apr 24, 2009 6:44 PM PDT up reply actions

Both

Sixers D stifling them and the refs are calling pretty much everything. Magic have been really frustrated all game.

by doubleh on Apr 24, 2009 6:44 PM PDT up reply actions

Young has 4 fouls it is probably Donny-Ice time

by The Legend on Apr 24, 2009 6:43 PM PDT reply actions

Could we get some PT for Kareem Rush please?

by phillyhoosfan on Apr 24, 2009 6:46 PM PDT reply actions

whew

Lead shrinking quickly…

Iggy travel. If he was Dwight Howard that wouldn’t be called.

by doubleh on Apr 24, 2009 6:57 PM PDT reply actions

or LeBron

LeBron could jog to the basket w/o being called for travelling

by chillicothe20 on Apr 24, 2009 6:58 PM PDT up reply actions

Don't remind me

That Cavs/Sixers game from last year still burns me.

by doubleh on Apr 24, 2009 7:00 PM PDT up reply actions

Iggy poked in the eyes

You f***er, Howard. #3 for you.

by doubleh on Apr 24, 2009 6:59 PM PDT reply actions

Please tell me

This isn’t going to be the reverse of Game #1. ‘Cuz that’s what it feels like.

by doubleh on Apr 24, 2009 7:03 PM PDT reply actions

They need to take Pietrus out and put Turk back in.

by The Legend on Apr 24, 2009 7:03 PM PDT reply actions

Umm...

I may be alone, but I’m not liking Howard too much.

Ratliff foul #5.

by doubleh on Apr 24, 2009 7:15 PM PDT reply actions

GS by Victorino

Some Marlins pitcher must have imploded

by chillicothe20 on Apr 24, 2009 7:24 PM PDT up reply actions

He was in the WBC BTW

I doubt he’ll be their closer for long. He’s pretty much just a FB pitcher.

This game is downright ugly.

by doubleh on Apr 24, 2009 7:25 PM PDT up reply actions

Come on Sixers!

The season depends on holding this lead!

by chillicothe20 on Apr 24, 2009 7:30 PM PDT reply actions

everyone gets too nervous in crunch time and forget?

You think they even practice it in practice? Honestly, I think its the fact that they are so bad…they think about it too much.

by soman319 on Apr 24, 2009 7:33 PM PDT up reply actions

Kinda frustrating that they are putting themselves in a more precarious situation than they need to be by failing to make key free throws down the stretch. They have been awful at the line this quarter.

by FuquaManuel on Apr 24, 2009 7:40 PM PDT reply actions

need a bucket so bad

gotta make it a two possession game

by Tanner Steidel on Apr 24, 2009 7:41 PM PDT reply actions

Oie vey!

He will miss the second one and they will get the rebound and the putback FTW.

P.S. Samuel Dalembert is an idipt.

by FuquaManuel on Apr 24, 2009 7:46 PM PDT reply actions

he makes both when he needs to! Unlike the Sixers.

by doubleh on Apr 24, 2009 7:46 PM PDT reply actions

The Philadelphia 76ers, snatching defeat from the jaws of victory since 2008.

by FuquaManuel on Apr 24, 2009 7:47 PM PDT reply actions

Zumoff

Had another orgasm.

It didn’t have to be that dramatic. Sixers owned this game and let it slip away.

by doubleh on Apr 24, 2009 7:49 PM PDT reply actions

This is familiar territory.

by FuquaManuel on Apr 24, 2009 7:49 PM PDT reply actions

Wow

I said this after Game 1 – did.that.just.happen?

by ajay on Apr 24, 2009 7:52 PM PDT reply actions

I thought we COULD win this game

and we DID, but I feel we didn’t play well dow the stretch and could easily be down 3-0 in this series, as much as we could be up 3-0.

by chillicothe20 on Apr 24, 2009 7:53 PM PDT reply actions

JORDAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNNN

We wonnnnnnnnnnnnnn

what a game, so emotional !!! I think Thad traveled on the last play but I don’t care !!!

I didn’’t post on any site, I’ll do like this until the end of the series

Take care bro, let’s enjoy the win

http://sixers4guidos.wordpress.com/

by Ricky - Sixers4guidos on Apr 24, 2009 7:53 PM PDT reply actions

Does anyone have on ESPNNEWS?

The lady that does the highlights just said that the play looked a little dicey since they thought Thad traveled. WHAT?!?!?!?!?!?!?! What about Superman holding onto him stupid b*tch

by The Legend on Apr 24, 2009 7:56 PM PDT reply actions

Yeah

Howard looked like he was giving him the heimlich.

by doubleh on Apr 24, 2009 7:58 PM PDT up reply actions

They were up 17

If they can keep it together they should win the next game too.

by ajay on Apr 24, 2009 7:56 PM PDT reply actions

FTs!!!

Jesus. Why does this feel like I’m watching a college game with the missed free throws and and the runs and the unpredictability. Seriously though, NBA players shouldn’t go 0fer from the line in a close game.

by phillynyc on Apr 24, 2009 7:57 PM PDT reply actions

Official celebration thread is up.

CELEBRATE! We’ve already done more than “experts” expected.
