The one that got away...
I have an uneasy feeling in my stomach. The 8 role players and head coach let me down tonight. The "big 3" showed up, and if the Sixers would've gotten a contribution from anyone else we'd have ourselves a 2-0 lead. I've allowed the loss to linger for a few hours, but I still can't get over it.
Why did Andre Iguodala score only 1 point in the first half?
Why did Bill Green play 20+ minutes?
Why did DiLeo play Donny-Ice when we needed stops and sit him when we needed threes?
Why is Courtney Lee averaging 21 points this series?
Who in their right mind would allow Reggie Evans to guard Dwight Howard?
Why couldn't we get a defensive rebound?
Why don't we get to the free throw line anymore?
Why is Bill Green playing at all?
Sigh. Please don't be as disappointed as I am. We're still going back to Philadelphia with a split. We have home-court advantage. And this Magic team is very beatable. They proved it tonight be allowing the Sixers to hang around in a game they should have dominated.
Now I'm off to watch some Fresh Prince re-runs to ease the pain. Hopefully a couple hours of sleep and a long day at work will erase this from my memory.
I'll preview game 3 tomorrow night.
Until then...

this is not a crushing blow
but this was a lost opportunity.
Coach wasn’t at his best, but our bench play was just terrible and it cost us the game. Lou WIll was just not there.
our just guys didn’t grab the moment. let’s see what happens at home.

If we learned anything from last year's finals...
Role players play better at home. Good news for Lou-Will. Bad news for Courtney Lee.

A lost opportunity indeed
Not only did Flopedelphia play a horrific Magic team in game 1, but they played against another awful Magic performance in game 2.
God help you when the Magic actually play well. If and when the Magic of the regular season actually show up, Flopedelphia will be down by 36 instead of 18 points in both games. And that sums up my point exactly. In BOTH games in which the Magic couldn’t execute a thing, they STILL got up by 18, while Flopedelphia was having shooting nights of their lives!!
Book the tee times Floppy fans!!

Wow, Bandwagon Fan
IF you are a true Magic Fan you do not spout things of this nature, not during the playoffs and not when your team is playing the worst possible basketball they can play.
God help them when the Magic play good?
You ever think Boss, that the reason we are playing bad is Philly’s D?
No you didn’t, you take a game from a position we should not even be in and begin to crow and defile our respected opponents blog.
This is not a reflection of Magic fans who have been through 20 years of hell.
Good game last night, And I hope we can get a split and turn it into a 3 game series with 2 left in Orlando.
Good luck guys and see you friday

No Doubt
But on a serious Note you can spot bandwagon scum a mile away. If you are a true Magic fan, you honestly do not feel as good as you should, and rightly so, we gave up home court and are chucking 3’s at 27% clip. Game 3 could go very badly for the Magic if they do not bust out of the funk they are in. But no No Magic fan who has vested thousands of dollars and countless many hours supporting a team feels good about what has transpired.
Yeah I do not care for Jay-Z and I love P-EW(ing) (that’s what I called him and his play in Orlando) But I would not get dunked on like that, Buddy Chewing disinigrates the backboard.
Be good guys and thanks for not lumping us Magic Fans in with Bandwagon impostor scum

To elevate....
Bandwagon imposter scum?
I’ll take that!!
Lived in Orlando for 35 years, been following the Magic since Theus, Cattlege, Kite, etc.
I can’t stand the way Orlando is playing right now. But basketball is a game of streaks and runs. Orlando is in a bad streak, but we have more talent as a whole than the 76ers. I would give Philly’s d more credit for how bad we’re playing if we hadn’t swept the regular season.
But call me what you will.

Regular season doesn't generally count for much in the postseason
Sometimes a hot streak is all you need. The better team doesn’t always win. That’s what’s great about the “second season”.

regular season record means nothing
the sixers were 2-0 against both houston and portland…. are we better than them? no… and congrats you can name some obscure players; o wait there’s such a thing as the internet where you can look them up in 5 seconds… and for the record once you get defensive about being a bandwagoner and mention those names, that just shows you are one (courtesy of some page 2 article on espn)

You could have fooled me
Either Bandwagon or 15 years old…
Maturity, I would expect that of someone who is at least 35…
But I digress…

Don't worry chaps.
You’r tied in a series where everyone guessed you’d be dominated.
In my opinion, though it’s painted slightly Celtic green:
You guys are 1-1 ahead.

Just my thoughts/opinions on your questions...
Why did Andre Iguodala score only 1 point in the first half?
He hasn’t figured out yet when exactly to turn on the “switch.” Sometimes his playing confuses me. At the end of games he can sometimes make off-balance, nearly impossible three point shots, but in the first two quarters he can’t drive down the lane and get to the line?
Why did Bill Green play 20+ minutes? Because Dileo is an interim coach.
Why did DiLeo play Donny-Ice when we needed stops and sit him when we needed threes? See answer above.
Why is Courtney Lee averaging 21 points this series? I suppose a good team is one that has some random guy who can come through and score twice is scoring average when needed on any given night. Because the other big 3 weren’t pulling enough weight, he stepped up and just started ballin. The sixers have some players like that (lou, Thad), but every night when the team needs it most just to get a win? The sixers don’t quite have that yet.
Who in their right mind would allow Reggie Evans to guard Dwight Howard? Elton Brand is out for the season. Sammy doesn’t konw how to guard without getting fouls called on him every 30 seconds. Speights’ defense just isn’t quite there yet.
Why couldn’t we get a defensive rebound? Sammy doesn’t know how to guard without getting fouls called on him every 30 seconds. Theo has been doing a hell of a job, but he’s 36 and I’m sure his legs get heavy at the end of games.
Why don’t we get to the free throw line anymore? I’m not really sure. Iguodala getting one point in the first half didn’t help. Especially when he averages over 6 free throw shots a game.
Why is Bill Green playing at all?
A better question: why, when he is playing, is he getting plays called for him???
by jefu on Apr 23, 2009 7:01 AM PDT reply actions 0 recs
I don’t get the whole Courtney Lee thing either.
As far as Reggie Dileo really had no choice since both Dalembert and Ratliff were in foul trouble. Dalembert needs to stay out of foul trouble for more then the first 6 minutes.

C Lee, led W kentucky to Sweet 16 last year and has 4 years of college.
I mean he is a couple months OLDER than Dwight….
Although I can’t say I expected him to average 21

DiLeo screwed up.
Bottom line is he is an interim coach. I don’t expect him to make the best decisions and these are the results we get when he doesn’t. Donyell had no reason to be in the game as much as he was last night. I would go as far to say that he hurt the team more than he helped. I feel as though he is that fourth quarter spark, that is all. Billy Green needs to stop playing. I think we all feel that way. Andre Iguodala needs to stop being inconsistent. I swear people criticize me for being so hard on the guy but these are the types of games when I feel I am 100% right about the guy. He has the tools to succeed but lacks the mentality. 1 pt in the half? WTF? He ended the night with statistically okay numbers but stats aren’t everything.
Andre Miller was shooting well in he first half and then that lingering selfishness took over and he started making mistake after mistake. As time has gone on, my attitude on Miller has slowly changed, partially because when I do see the sixers play, miller is doing stupid things. It worries me that we regressed to that aggressive style of play that kills us (leaving wide open threes). Though it didn’t kill us last night because they were shooting poorly, eventually such a style will knock us out of the playoffs since they can definitely shoot better behind the arc.
Bottom Line: That game was frustrating. DiLeo’s coaching is the main reason we struggle, next to poor execution. It isn’t that we don’t have the players, talent, or experience. It was the way the players were put into play and the game plan against the Magic that led to that loss. STOP PLAYING BILLY!

I just saw this on the ESPN series page as the featured quote lol
" Put away your brooms Philly fans."

Also, I think Green is back to being Willie. His alter ego Bill, a pretty decent player, was just a huge tease a few weeks ago

this blog
I just wasted time reading alot of junk above. I thought this was to comment on the blog above?
Anyway, yes, they gave game 2 to Orlando. Horrible coaching, no ball sharing, and way too many turnovers being selfish. We cannot win if we don’t get our shooters in the game. Marshall was open but no ball, Iggy did not get into the game till 2nd half, Lou was off but was not given a chance to get hot and wasted w/ Willie Green. And Reggie belongs on the bench till this series is over.
Let’s hope they wake up tommorrow. We need to win the next 2 games!
