Yes

Because ultimately both teams would beat the Sixers, but I think the Magic’s fanbase (do they have one?) is much less obnoxious and to have to watch Doc’s antics on the sidelines…ugh.

The C’s beat the Sixers without KG twice anyway, so I don’t think it matters. I figured our best hope for a Celtic series was that KG would play, but be really ineffective. Leon Powe and Big Baby are both pretty effective, so if they game plan around one of the starting, I think they’d still have no trouble.

It’s very possible that we could beat the Magic.

Are the Magic better or worse than the Cav’s third string players?

by doubleh on Apr 16, 2009 8:45 AM PDT up reply actions

Do you really think that's the effort we'll get from the Sixers come Sunday?

Remember when they got blown out by the freakin’ Thunder WITHOUT Jeff Green and Kevin Durant?

Yeah, a week later they beat LA in LA and Portland in Portland.

I don't know

And that’s why I’m worried. I know you’re not a hockey fan, but the Flyers played like disinterested crap for the last week plus and then came out last night completely flat.

I worry that the Sixers will follow suit.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't worried.

But the Sixers are A) getting their first 2+ day rest in a month and a half. B) Just now getting healthy and C) Have proven over the past two season that they can play like complete garbage one night and look like a championship contender the next.

by Jordan Sams on Apr 16, 2009 9:09 AM PDT up reply actions

Even though Sam is a weak.

He’s also tough. If that makes sense. I think he’ll play. The question is, how effective will he be?

And is starting Theophilus really much of a drop of?

by Jordan Sams on Apr 16, 2009 9:21 AM PDT up reply actions

Starting Theo, in my opinion, would be a boost in Defense and a slight drop off in Offense. Dalembert can turn on the offensive part of his game but he seems to rarely do it consistently.

by Ben16 on Apr 16, 2009 9:32 AM PDT up reply actions

As long as Theo can catch and alley-oop.

We’ll be fine on offense. Plus, does anyone not see Thad averaging 25 this series.

by Jordan Sams on Apr 16, 2009 9:33 AM PDT up reply actions

On the surface it doesn’t seem like a bad idea to start Theo. He is consistently better on D than Sammy, and he doesn’t make stupid plays. My only problem with that is that with his age, I’m worried how he’d hold up playing extended minutes every night.

by zfg on Apr 16, 2009 9:34 AM PDT up reply actions

Bottom line is.

We’re going to need both of ’em to hold up against D12 for a full series.

Garnett not playing wouldnt make a huge difference

because Ray Allen is the Sixers worst nightmare. Also, this team pretty much loses to any team with a really good bench…the magic dont really have that

by jmorcate on Apr 16, 2009 9:46 AM PDT reply actions

The sixers didn’t beat the cavs minus allen and garnett – the magic right now are better than the celts minus allen and garnett.

If the first round was still 5 games, MAYBE the sixers could get lucky – but the first round was expanded to 7 games to ‘limit’ the number of upsets (which I think was dumb) and make it more likely the best team wins.

The sixers may take a game or two but it would be a pretty big upset if they somehow win this series – and they’d STILL lose to the celtics with or without garnett

Not for nothing – but good wishes to danny ainge

"Someone created the box score," Morey says, "and he should be shot."

Blocked shots — they look great, but unless you secure the ball afterward, you haven’t helped your team all that much.
