In the background.

I look at the Sixers layup line and what do I see? Sammy D going behind the back and throwing up a reverse layup.

I`m from about an hour outside of philly by my parents grew up in philly

I`m currently working in Japan. So it`s 9:25 on Thursday morning here.

by jefu on Apr 15, 2009 5:26 PM PDT up reply actions

Yeah I love it here

I`ve been here about 9 months so far and well…it`s not the same at Pennsylvania.

How about you?

by jefu on Apr 15, 2009 5:30 PM PDT up reply actions

I was born and raised in Henderson, Nevada.

Which is about 15 minutes away from the strip. I also go to UNLV.

And I’m almost afraid to say it, but, I’m a Cowboys and Astros fan as well.

Please forgive me.

by Jordan Sams on Apr 15, 2009 5:32 PM PDT up reply actions

well I dont really care about football

but I am a huge phillies fan. I`ve been a sixers and phillies fan since I was a kid.
If you dont mind me asking, why did you choose the sixers as your team if you`re from nevada?

by jefu on Apr 15, 2009 5:34 PM PDT up reply actions

Before Iverson.

Like every other kid in Vegas, I loved Michael Jordan.

by Jordan Sams on Apr 15, 2009 5:36 PM PDT up reply actions

Yeah, well once I'm with a team, I'm with 'em.

It’s funny how much I loved Emmitt, and how he’s the reason I became a Cowboys fan. As of right now he probably wouldn’t even be in my top 5 anymore.

I guess me being older and having the resources to follow sports 1000 times closer has made my childhood favorites fade a little.

after all the ups and downs of this season

i would be lying if I said I wasn’t dissappointed. But…even if we end up with the same record as last year, and subsequently the same playoff spot, are we a better team then the 07-08 Sixers?

by SexualTyrannosaurus on Apr 15, 2009 5:24 PM PDT reply actions

i know, but i've been trying to figure out why

i want to say we’re better. We’ve had some impressive wins this year, Thad’s been a beast, M16 has got unlimited potential, yet statistically speaking, we look almost exactly the same as last year

by SexualTyrannosaurus on Apr 15, 2009 5:29 PM PDT up reply actions

I don't think there's any doubt.

Yes, we’re better. Iggy’s better, Thad’s better, we have Speights.

by Jordan Sams on Apr 15, 2009 5:29 PM PDT up reply actions

Lou just got blocked (fouled) on a layup attempt.

And I loved the play. He passed up an open three, then an open 15-footer, and took it to the hole. I’ll take that every time.

by Jordan Sams on Apr 15, 2009 5:35 PM PDT reply actions

me too

reminds me of vintage iverson

by SexualTyrannosaurus on Apr 15, 2009 5:36 PM PDT up reply actions

I think they`ll start to step it up

the cavs only have so many reserves, and they`ll tire.

by jefu on Apr 15, 2009 5:39 PM PDT reply actions

combination of factors

DiLeo has something to do with it for sure, mix in fatigue (that West coast trip wiped us out), and the fact that playoff bound teams are kicking it into high gear and we haven’t learn how to turn on that switch.

by SexualTyrannosaurus on Apr 15, 2009 5:47 PM PDT up reply actions

He doesn`t have an aggressive tone to his voice

one thing some of the best coaches in the league have

by jefu on Apr 15, 2009 5:45 PM PDT reply actions

Certainly an interesting debate.

We’ll save that for after the playoffs though. I’m gonna need something to write about.

by Jordan Sams on Apr 15, 2009 6:03 PM PDT up reply actions

Theo starts the second half.

Sammy has a strained right shoulder — will not return.

by Jordan Sams on Apr 15, 2009 6:27 PM PDT reply actions

THIS JUST IN

Samuel Dalembert gets traded to the Orlando Magic for Dwight Howard

by jefu on Apr 15, 2009 6:29 PM PDT reply actions

There's no way Denver accepts that.

The Sixers were reportedly interested in the Bird Man when he came off his suspension.

by Jordan Sams on Apr 15, 2009 6:49 PM PDT up reply actions

April point guard numbers.

Miller – 16 points, 7 dimes, 5 boards, 3 turnovers, 1 steal, on 43% shooting. (38 min)

Williams – 18 points, 3 dimes, 2 board, 2 turnovers, 2 steals, on 47% shooting. (27 min)

by Jordan Sams on Apr 15, 2009 6:49 PM PDT reply actions

we need a point guard who can produce more dimes

however, I guess that`s not fair to say seeing as lou gets less minutes, but I still think Miller is far more consistent.

by jefu on Apr 15, 2009 6:51 PM PDT reply actions

Agree.

But Lou is still young and might still be able to learn.

by Jordan Sams on Apr 15, 2009 6:53 PM PDT up reply actions

true, but he needs a veteran presence

he`s still too young, and isn`t a natural point guard.

by jefu on Apr 15, 2009 6:55 PM PDT up reply actions

Just think.

New season in a couple days. Everybody’s gonna be pumped. The defense will be better. Everyone will have a little extra energy.

by Jordan Sams on Apr 15, 2009 7:12 PM PDT up reply actions

It don't matter.

If they can play with the effort they did in Portland, they’ll have a chance, and at least we’ll get some quality basketball.

by Jordan Sams on Apr 15, 2009 7:16 PM PDT up reply actions

this seems like a game the sixers are destined to lose.

by Michael Levin on Apr 15, 2009 7:26 PM PDT reply actions

although 4 players with 18+ in one night looks nice

by Michael Levin on Apr 15, 2009 7:27 PM PDT up reply actions

i feel weird

i was mentally preparing for the C’s

by SexualTyrannosaurus on Apr 15, 2009 7:31 PM PDT reply actions

How do you think I feel?

My playoff preview is due later tonight and already wrote it.

by Jordan Sams on Apr 15, 2009 7:32 PM PDT up reply actions

This is a problem.

Is there any coach who draws up worse inbounds plays?

by Jordan Sams on Apr 15, 2009 7:34 PM PDT reply actions

Yikes

Can’t beat the Celts without Garnett, can’t beat the Cavs without LeBron…does it matter what team we play?

by ajay on Apr 15, 2009 7:36 PM PDT reply actions

Sorry

Ray Allen didn’t play either.

by ajay on Apr 15, 2009 7:37 PM PDT up reply actions

Not really.

But trust me man, this isn’t the same Sixers team we’ll see this weekend.

by Jordan Sams on Apr 15, 2009 7:37 PM PDT up reply actions

Hmm

What gives you optimism?

by ajay on Apr 15, 2009 7:38 PM PDT up reply actions

It's the playoffs.

Everybody’s effort is going to be better. More focus will be put on the little things. Everybody gets a mental break over the next couple days. Trust me they’ll be ready to roll.

Here’s a stat for you: The Sixers haven’t had consecutive days of since….. March 9-10. That’s a long freakin’ time to go without consecutive days off.

by Jordan Sams on Apr 15, 2009 7:42 PM PDT up reply actions

101-101 but my yahoo is acting up too

by Michael Levin on Apr 15, 2009 7:44 PM PDT reply actions

Yeah

I’m in DC and ESPN’s scoreboard sucks. It had the Sixers at 102 then magically took away a point.

by ajay on Apr 15, 2009 7:44 PM PDT reply actions

10 threes for the cavs. seems like all them in the 4th and later

by Michael Levin on Apr 15, 2009 7:48 PM PDT reply actions

ESPN scoreboard sucks

It said Iguodala missed a free throw BETWEEN two foul shots by Darnell Jackson. That’s gotta be a first…

by ajay on Apr 15, 2009 7:50 PM PDT reply actions

Thanks guys

I have to watch Nuggets-Blazers

by ajay on Apr 15, 2009 7:52 PM PDT reply actions

But...

…referees are not allowed to make calls against the Cavs, don’t you know that? ;-)

by ajay on Apr 15, 2009 7:56 PM PDT up reply actions

jsams? what happened?

by Michael Levin on Apr 15, 2009 7:59 PM PDT reply actions

They inbounded to Gibson.

He kinda fumbled the ball and then Ivey knocked it away and rode him to the floor as time expired.

by Jordan Sams on Apr 15, 2009 8:01 PM PDT up reply actions

WTF happened?

Sorry, I can’t see the game in DC.

by ajay on Apr 15, 2009 8:00 PM PDT reply actions

Wait

At what point to the refs call a late foul and bring the team back out from the locker room?

by ajay on Apr 15, 2009 8:03 PM PDT reply actions

I said we'd win tonight

Of course, if we hadn’t beaten their damn bench, I probably would have jumped off of a bridge…

by doubleh on Apr 15, 2009 8:03 PM PDT reply actions

It`s time to celebrate gentlemen

sixers officially did better than last year
One more win, they have the 6th seed, and play an easier (yet still very good) team in the playoffs.

At what expense? a tired iguodala and miller, and perhaps an injured dalembert

Yet, I still feel good.

by jefu on Apr 15, 2009 8:06 PM PDT reply actions

Dalembert will be fine.

And like I said earlier, the Sixers will get 2 days of rest for the first time in 35 days. The Andres will be rejuvenated.
