Unfortunately I slept through the game.
I woke up and thought it was 6 a.m. Monday morning. No more all-nighters for me. Anyone, ANYONE want to fill me in on what happened?
I think we can steal one of these upcoming games, hopefully this next one against Boston.
To be honest I am to depressed to talk about the game but the one bright spot in my opinion was Sammy D.
I don't see us even being close.
In either game.
It looked like Lou played well. Was he just a box score abberation?
Well maybe I am being to optumistic but both teams we are about to face are probably going to want to rest there players since they can’t improve there standing assuming Cleveland wins tonight.
The cavs haven’t clinched the home court through the playoffs yet and they’ll want to get that 40-1 record – losing to the sixers sets a ‘bad note’ going into the playoffs.
THe Celtics have to integrate KG and have to wash out the embarrassment of Sunday in Cleveland – what better way then bitch slapping the defenseless (literally) sixers?
"Someone created the box score," Morey says, "and he should be shot."
Blocked shots — they look great, but unless you secure the ball afterward, you haven’t helped your team all that much.

If the Cavs win tonight they clinch homecorut through out(unless ESPN is lieing) and is the 40-1 record worth the possibility of getting Lebron hurt? Because no Lebron=no title
As for the Celtics KG isn’t coming back until there last game against the Wizards and you’re probably right that they want to wash out the embarrassment against Cleveland I wasn’t thinking about that but Iguodala is going to make them wait till the Washington game.
I wouldn't question you one bit.
If you didn’t watch the final 2 games. Playoffs will be a different story though.
I saw Jason Smith at a club called Roxxy on Saturday night. I said whats up to him…it was pretty sweet
I didn’t pay attention, sorry, it’s just too aggravating to watch them right now, i guess ‘same roster same record’ kind of thing (without brand) but that’s kind of disappointing.
Back into the playoffs – losing the last 6 (i don’t think the celtics are going to be a pushover after the way they got bitchslapped on Sunday and Garnett coming back for their last game) – I don’t expect much of a fight out of them in the playoffs.
In a way though, this is ‘good’ for the front office (to me) in that it shows them truly how far away the roster is and how fragile it can really be. I mean I know he’s good, but if your team is THAT dependent on a second year player, your roster is fragile.

Your point about the this being good for the front office.
I was thinking the same thing myself. You can even take it one step further and say that this collapse has shown the similarities between Cheeks and DiLeo, hopefully opening Stefanski’s eyes that he needs to bring in a new coach.

had the game on but didn't really pay attention
more studying for my test this afternoon… however, names I heard a lot while studying.. Lou Williams and the phrase “gets by the defense and explodes towards the basket”…. Patrick O’Bryant “scores”… to that all I have to say is WTF?
Don’t forget these are the guys who said (there’s witnesses)
“Willie Green can shoot the lights out” – with no irony whatsoever
I know it’s not believed but sadly i thought they’d be 40-42 this year – i hate being right about crap like this

I gotta give you credit.
All season you’ve been saying despite huge wins and horrible losses that they are, and still will be a .500 ballclub.

School's been ridiculous these past few weeks.
I’m the most stressed I’ve ever been in my life.

for real man it sucks
i’m just glad my whole swing of exams will be over in time to watch every playoff game without worrying about anything…. that is until finals (school not nba)

Math has been murdering me.
But after Wednesday night, that will be close to over with, so I’ll be able to watch the playoffs worry-free as well.

I unfortuantely caught the game...
we made a decent run toward the end, but we shouldn’t have had to. Without Thad, we might as well be the Clippers or Grizzlies. The playoffs start soon, and when they do 40-42 or 41-41 won’t matter a bit (seeding notwithstanding).
Exactly.
Without Thad defenses just pack the paint making it harder for everybody else. If we played an entire season with this roster we’d be lucky to win 30 games.
I don't know if it's the stresses of work and school...
or the Sixers sorry play, but I’m not really looking forward to these last two games. I hope they have a better showing in the playoffs. I’d hate to see such and up-and-down, entertaining season end the way it is. Then we’ll have to wait 6 more months for another meaningful game.
Off season and next year...
After reading a bunch of these fan posts, the pessimism has really gotten to me as well.
This year was supposed to be a promising year…it really wasn`t, but that`s what happens sometimes.
I think they might show some energy in the playoffs. They most likely won`t go very far, but we can all hope. Having Thad back will certainly help. Yes, he`s only a second year player, but he`s a second year player with a lot of skill. The team became dependent on his skill throughout the year, hence their suckfest the last five games.
I`m actually looking forward to the off season only because I think it will be interesting to see who they trade. Number one: I really think they need to hire a new coach. Someone who can integrate Brand`s skill with the rest of the team. I will cross my fingers and hope for the best.
Before Thad got hurt.
We looked well on our way to the fifth seed and first round win (if not a series win, at least seven games) against the Hawks. We could’ve taken that and built on it in the off-season. Now, there’s a very distinct possibility that we won’t see the Sixers win another game ‘till next October. That’s hard to carry through a full off-season.
I’m praying Thad comes back and we, if nothing else, play the Magic or Celtics tough in the first round.
As for the off-season, there’s a lot of things that could happen or not happen — interesting nonetheless.
And it's not really pessimism, it's reality.
Kings fans aren’t called pessimistic if they don’t think they’re team’s going to beat the Celtics or the Cavs.
Without Thad, we just aren’t good.
I agree, a bad outcome does seem realistic
But overall from reading the posts I got a pessimistic vibe. I mean, a 40-42 record and getting their asses stomped in the post season is certainly the worst possible outcome. Most people who commented in this thread were hinting at that.
The title speaks for itself.
Do you feel differently? Or did you before reading these comments? If so, I’d love to hear what you are, were thinking. Sixers Nation needs some hope.
My true beliefs are...
The celtics will not be playing KG until the playoffs. They already clinched the no 2 spot so they have nothing to lose or gain. They are playing the sixers at the wachovia center. I do not think the celtics will give their starters a lot of minutes. I also do not think the celtics will be seeking revenge for the embarassing loss against the cavaliers. They will most likely save that revenge for the conference finals.
Against the cavaliers, this will be much tougher to win, but I think lebron will not play a lot of minutes. I think the cavaliers having a good possibility of winning the nba title far overrides the possibility of having a 40-1 home record.
So yes, I have some hope.
Nice.
So best case scenario,: We beat a banged-up Celtics team and Cleveland’s bench, and go into the playoffs as the sixth seed. Thad comes back, we win 2 games against Orlando, and carry a sliver or hope into the off-season?
Yeah something like that
That is better than the other scenario. It`s better to go into the off season with heads up rather than down.
However, for some reason lebron played over 38 minutes today and scored 37 points. So I`m really starting to think he`ll play a full game against the sixers.
I agree 1000% that Thad is a big loss but I also think people are overlooking the losses of Elton Brand(I think he would of done better under Dileo, in fact I think he had a 27 point game before he went down) and Jason Smith. It isn’t like those guys are scrubs if they were healthy they would be helping us right now.
Agree.
One thing to look at is:
Everyone, including me, might be overrating Thad a little. A lot of people expect him to come back and dominate, but that’s not going to happen. The hope I have is that he comes back and plays like he played in March and the team feeds off it.
Correct me if I`m wrong...
I think the game Brand came back and scored 27 points was against the wizards. Since the wizards were a sucky team, maybe the sixers could beat them using half-court offense. As for the better teams, we don`t know if Dileo had the coaching skills to integrate Brand with the rest of the sixers.
He only started 2 games under DiLeo.
The 27-point game against Washington and the game he got injured. It’s impossible to predict what DiLeo would’ve done with a semi-healthy Brand. To be completely honest, I hope we never find out what DiLeo can do with a healthy Elton.
Out of curiosity, does anyone actually want DiLeo back?
I am curious to see how the team would do under Dileo if they had a full training camp under him. Remember it isn’t easy being an interim coach. If not him then I want somebody that will have the guys play defense but keep them running since that fits us best
I like the possibility of Thibodeau.
Obviously. My other choices would be (in order) Jeff Van Gundy, Avery Johnson, Eddie Jordan.
Thib and JVG would have this team playing some hardcore D. Combine that with their run and gun offense and they’d be tough to beat.
No interest in JVG whatsoever. As for Thibodeau, they talked about him getting a head coching job last year as well, are the celtics allowing him to interview or just keeping him under contract….what is his contract status and are the celtics going to let him go to a division rival (be it the sixers or anyone else)
"Someone created the box score," Morey says, "and he should be shot."
Blocked shots — they look great, but unless you secure the ball afterward, you haven’t helped your team all that much.

All research for the off-season.
I’m not sure about his contract. When the time comes, I’ll have to contact the Celtics bloggers to find out what the dealio is.
