Thad and Iggy vs. D-Rose and Deng

We're getting robbed!

Link

Ball Don't Lie is doing a 2 on 2 All-Star tournament and the Sixers two are Iguodala and Young. Their first and probably last match-up is with the Bulls Derrick Rose and Luol Deng.

The rules.

A refresher of our hypothetical two-on-two rules: half-court (obviously), offense calls the fouls, "winners out" to eleven (by ones and twos, natch), and you've got to win by two. Also, no jeans. I can't stand people who try and basketball in denim.

4,287 votes later, the Sixers are losing 65% to 35%.

Thoughts? I'd take Iggy and Thad over Rose and Deng any day. I have confidence that Iggy could completely shut down Rose, but I'd feel more confident if it was Miller and Iguodala instead of Thad, or even Iguodala and Lou-Will

also if you read the comments it seems like more than 35% of them picked the sixers.

too bad they won't get a chance to advance.

will iguodala ever get the reputation as a borderline-elite player?

Pimpin' ain't easy and neither is being a Sixers fan. I manage to do both. Join me at Liberty Ballers, the SBNation 76ers blog. Don't make fun of the name either. It has nothing to do with the New York Liberty of the WNBA.

probably not until this team makes a consistent run and even then he will have the people saying he is a number 2.

He might not be an elite scorer.

But he’s well on his way to being an elite basketball player.

Iguodala is a #2 and I’ve been a fan of his longer than most sixer fans knew he existed, he’s an EXCELLENT #2, but he inherently seems to defer to people who are considered stars, his make up isn’t that of a #1 – i wish people would stop trying to make him one – it raises the expectations unrealistically

The whole "1 and 2" system seems to be based on scoring.

Iguodala does so much more. He’s not a number 1 scorer and he never will be, but how do you differentiate a 1 and 2 if you’re not talking about scoring?

This goes back to that clutch thing in the other thread – the ‘evolution’ of basketball is so far behind baseball it’s kind of sad. The fact that Morey is failing in Houston doesn’t help…Yes points are important – but how you get the points is just as important, hence the evolution of eFG or TS% being better than FG%, rebounds are important, but just counting them isn’t as important as how many you get based on whats’ available, hence the growing (slowly) recognition of rebounding percentage…all I’m saying is that a lot of these definitions are arbitrary and the average fan doesn’t know better so their expectations are invalid.

Call Iguodala a #1 and people want him to score 25-30 every night – they don’t care as much about the assists rebound or steals.

Andre Iguodala is a very very good NBA player – and i expect any team in the NBA would love to have him on their roster – but he’s not going to carry a team to the NBA finals because it’s just not in him – never has been – and that shouldn’t make people think less of him.

Couldn't agree more with this.

His contract is looking better and better every game.

+1

"I need to do a better job of putting players in the right position to perennially come up short of expectations"
