Stein -- Elton Brand Out for Season

Marc Stein reports that Elton Brand is out for the season.  That's the bad news.  The good news, however, is that I just put up a post this morning on RidiculousUpside profiling the top bigs in the D-League.  Hope you guys are able to find what you're looking for!

The best option, in the D-League, would be Courtney Sims.  Sims, a 2nd year player out of Michigan, started last season with the Pacers.  This season, Sims is averaging 22 points, 11 boards, and over two blocks per game, shooting an even 60% from the field.

He might be worth a look!

well

I’d rather have erik daniels, on the sixers affiliated Erie Bayhawks. at least we get another year to see what thad can do at the 4.

Up to now, the Brand signing could not have gone any worse.

WHen brand went down earlier they didn’t sign anyone – not even to a 10 day contract – just opened up more minutes for speights (who excelled) i see no reason to change that idea.

I do think this motivates towards a move of Miller for good assets

PS – i thought brand should have had surgery the moment they said separated shoulder

Wow shocking news, this actually surprised me. I thought maybe at most he would be like Bynum and back for the playoffs but yeah really taken back by this.

I guess the Brand experiment has to wait till next year! Shame, but excited about next season already.

Why would the bynum injury have any bearing? It’s two enitrely different issues.

I just meant in terms of coming back to the team, I expected him back to the sixers before Bynum came back to the lakers. But now Brands out for the whole season. Just meant in terms of teams losing a talented big man, not comparing injuries.

I expected him to have surgery when he was first injured and be gone for the year – all this dude was push back the time table a bit

sucks dude

there’s really nowhere to go from here, but trade. i think some sort of trade needs to be made, whether it involves miller or dalembert, or both

Pimpin' ain't easy and neither is being a Sixers fan. I manage to do both. Join me at Liberty Ballers, the SBNation 76ers blog. Don't make fun of the name either. It has nothing to do with the New York Liberty of the WNBA.

Even without brand they could get the 4 or 5 seed in the east
