Around SBN: Lakers Should Trade Andrew Bynum So He Doesn't Go To Waste

Andre Iguodala

I don't care what anyone else says, Iguodala has proven that he's worth every penny of his 80 million dollar contract. More thoughts on the game later tonight.

Sixers are friggin' hot!

Wow! the way the team has responded to:
1. the coaching change
2. EB’s injury

just incredible. the only thing that worries me is the team’s weak outside shooting. but the team is playing great defense, crashing the boards, and playing with a lot of guts.

i just wish they were on TV more…

the three point shooting

every team has a weakness. that’s theirs. if nothing else, they’ll give a team or two a hard good series in the playoffs.

the future looks bright though.

although he didn't put up huge numbers

what he did for the team (let’s forget the air ball three) was awesome… he gets the ball to the open man when he needs to and takes over down the stretch when it counts…. not to mention he plays fantastic defense holding OJ Gayo to 5-17 from the floor…. iggy gets no love from the espn’s of the world but i love him

to be honest

i was never huge on iguodala. he had disappointed me too many times. i hated his attitude and that pistons series really left a bad taste in my mouth.

this year he’s matured tremendously though. his attitude has gotten better. he’s become a leader. he’s become clutch. and he’s only 25. love it. not to mention he still throws in a nasty dunk here and there.

is Tony DiLeo vying for a job?

Iguodala was taking some heat at Reclinergm, so I wrote this in his defense:

Iguodala had a horrible playoffs, signed a crazy deal and then started with a horrible November . This caused a lot of people got down on him.

But since December 1st (34 games) he has put up 20/6/5.5, 2 steals on 51% shooting and nearly 1.4 pts/shot leading a team surging towards the playoffs (winners of 10 of their last 14.)

He is not a natural scorer like most other stars, and he is not a superstar. Iguodala is asked to be the #1 offensive weapon for a team that lacks shooters and a post presence. He thrives despite probably being miscast (or because of ?) Recently he has even shown the ability to perform in the clutch (and per a recent 82games article has done as well as most stars in game winning situatons over his career.)

I’m not denying Iguodala’s flaws or petulance. I just feel the need to stand up for what he has done. On a team of players with great potential, he has well exceeded my expectations. Can you name a better player over the age of 21 who has never been an all star?

Also, I listed his stats over the last 34 games, but if you go all the way back to the AI trade in 12/06, he has been a 19/5.8/5.5, 2 stl, 46% and 1.35 pts/shot and a plus defender as the best player on a winning team.

He deserves some of the criticism, but also the praise. As I said, name a better player over 21 who has never been named an all star?

…was thinking of posting an article on Iguodala making the case of him being the best 21+ player to never be an All Star. I guess I can throw in some stats about being top 2 in adjusted +/- and his good PER differential…

Iguodala has taken heat since I got here – I’ve stopped trying to defend him because it’s pointless – it’s like the Sam debate – no side listens to the other – so I gave up.

As for the sixers weaknesses – they’ve been pretty crappy on the defensive glass recently – and were so against the grizzlies (14 offensive rebounds for the grizz in only 35 opportunities? Are you kidding me?) – Against a good team that’ll get your ass handed to you on a plate – against a bad team it makes the game closer than it should be.

Who has criticized him in the past couple months?

And they’re not going to rebound like that every game, just like when they hit 15 threes in a game. Peaks and valleys my friend.

They’ve been reboudning poorly for a while now – it’s not just this game (and don’t talk to me about gross numbers, you know better than that) – this is just the worst of a recent bad batch.

People have been criticizing Iguodala for his entire career – no matter what he accomplishes

Most of the haters vanish when he does well as opposed to admitting when they were wrong – so now that he’s performing all the ‘he isn’t worth it’ trade him crazy people have left – but he’s the same guy and same player he was earlier in the season and least season he just got off to a slow start.

I can think of one particular poster who only seems to show up during a bad game for the sixers

Michael jordan has his Jordan shoe line........

Andre Iguodala needs his own shoe line……maybe the Iggys…..i mean really, Dwight Howard has his own friggin shoe line, Iggy deserves his own

To me the Eagles are like that girlfriend that pisses u off, then u hate her, but the next morning you wake up and remember that thing u love so much about her

Iguodala never ‘won’ a dunk contenst where he

A. Didn’t do a real dunk that shocked everybody
B. Stole a dunk from someone and then called it his own

Like Dwight Howard
