Blazers interested in Andre Miller?

Hey, Blazer fan here. Here is a link to an article by The Knicks Blog, in which they write about Portland and their supposed interest in Andre Miller.

Norsktroll over at Blazersedge broke it all down, combining cryptic information from Blazer beat writer Jason Quick and the aforementioned Knicks Blog post. Quick says the Blazers would be trading for small forward and point guard, that the team is in the Eastern Conference, and that it would make the Blazers a title contender. Philly seems to meet these conditions.

What are the thoughts of Philly fans on a potential trade, given the previous two links?

Thad AND Miller?

Pimpin' ain't easy and neither is being a Sixers fan. I manage to do both. Join me at Liberty Ballers, the SBNation 76ers blog. Don't make fun of the name either. It has nothing to do with the New York Liberty of the WNBA.

That is speculation

He read that they are talking about a SF and PG combonation with an eastern conference team and tied it to this. To assume that it was Young or Iggy is just silly. Norskull is a really great poster, but seems to have slipped up this time trying to pinpoint what someone else was hinting about, but missed. I know there’s no way that Philly gives up Thad or Iggy for an expiring contract. You know it too. The only thing I could think would be that we pick up Miller to resign for a few years and you guys get Sergio to help with your running and salary. But we would have to give up our expiring contract of 17 mil, and then you would have to dump a salary on us to make contracts match (which I would assume is Evans or Green). I really don’t know if this one has legs.

On the other hand, Miller would provide a solid starting point guard and turn us into a weak contender this year, maybe a stronger one for another couple of years until Bayless gets going (if he gets going, which Miller might be able to help with). You would get a quality prospect (I love Sergio and would become a bigger Sixers fan overnight) and a more long term option at the point. I think something like that has a possibility of flying. Maybe. It seems like that would give us a longer shot at a title run on the early end of it. Is Miller the kind of guy who would think about taking a smaller contract in order to get a ring? That’s a question, and we might have our eye on him come free agency anyway. Sergio also wanted more time, I’m not sure if he is feeling the same way now. He seems to be one of the people we have the loosest grip on though, and I know Miller could pry him away from us. We just have too many quality project point guards. Blake is a “veteran”, but coming off the bench hitting 3s would suit us a lot better. Bayless should be the perfect compliment to Roy. I don’t like getting into a lot of speculation, so I’ll stop here. There is a big discussion on the thread that canibalism pointed out.

I like whatever metric makes a Blazer look better.
