John Salley's Pistons @ A.I.'s Sixers game thread 12/09/09

Detroit Pistons at Philadelphia 76ers, Dec 9, 2009 4:00 PM PST

Not sure what this has to do with anything.

Welcome back to A.I. versus his old teams week!

If I had a dime for every time the Sixers lost this year, I'd have a dollar sixty. Will I grab another hypothetical dime piece tonight? More importantly, what number do you think John Wall will wear when he gets here?

11- seems he has worn it for USA teams, AAU and Kentucky. Sorry to Jrue as he might have to switch to 6 or something (like he was with USA team) as he will not be 21 like was @ UCLA

Wall

If Sammy leaves he’ll probably be #1. If not, then probably #5.. or I could see #27 as well.

No Jrue

nba lp broaband currently showing blazers/pacers in the sixers/pistons feed… ummm okay

by Tanner Steidel on Dec 9, 2009 4:02 PM PST reply actions

yeah it did that when they played the suns.

by jefu on Dec 9, 2009 4:13 PM PST up reply actions

i would but i got the package where u choose 7 teams (only one i care about is the sixers) and pacers and blazers unfortunately are not in my group – balls

the problem with broadband is it’s basically a monopoly so they never care about customer satisfaction.
it seriously pisses me off.

by jefu on Dec 9, 2009 4:17 PM PST up reply actions

there’s not even a number on the webpage to call about anything – awful awful customer service

by Tanner Steidel on Dec 9, 2009 4:17 PM PST up reply actions

you can do the live chat and sit there and wait about 2 hours before some loser who is uninterested in helping you finally responds.

i think tonight’s the night our losing streak ends.

by Jordan Sams on Dec 9, 2009 4:15 PM PST reply actions

If not, how many games until Jordan gets fired?

by jefu on Dec 9, 2009 4:15 PM PST up reply actions

from this blog? haha – i have a feeling ej will last until the all-star break

by Tanner Steidel on Dec 9, 2009 4:16 PM PST up reply actions

i don’t see him getting fired unless our record is 5-26.

by Jordan Sams on Dec 9, 2009 4:16 PM PST up reply actions

you have to think though…Iverson is back, which is pretty desperate. If they don’t start winning and attendance drops, I think he gets canned, or both Eds get the boot.

by jefu on Dec 9, 2009 4:18 PM PST up reply actions

nets could get two in a row tonight

by Tanner Steidel on Dec 9, 2009 4:16 PM PST up reply actions

Easy Ed needs to be hosed down after discussing Billy Green’s play.

by Jordan Sams on Dec 9, 2009 4:36 PM PST reply actions

i believe i heard him say something along the lines of he needs to be more aggressive on the offensive end? would i be correct in that?

by Tanner Steidel on Dec 9, 2009 4:37 PM PST up reply actions

correct.

also said that this lineup gives the sixers a real boost and green has been playing “great” basketball lately.

Everything? lol

Honestly, I don’t know what really to point out. Overall it is very solid, from gameplay to graphics, from single player to multiplayer. The online gaming experience is what is the most addicting. One of my roommates literally played for 9 hours straight. Regardless of the opinion of my other 2 roommates that he is a waste of life, 10 hours straight for anyone is a feat.

how would you compare it to the halo’s online?

by Jordan Sams on Dec 9, 2009 5:26 PM PST up reply actions

Much better…and that’s coming from a huge Haloholic. The amount of options and customizations you can go through as far as weapons, equipment and perks (as well as, gamertags and kill streak awards) you won’t run out of ideas or playing styles. If you haven’t played COD before you probably don’t know what perks are.

There are so many options of game types too. Maps are awesome and pretty even in the sense that controlling one area doesn’t control the game.

Also, since all the weapons and attachments aren’t unlocked from the start, as you level up (max is 70), you basically complete challenges to unlock said weapons and attachments; challenges such as getting 15 kills with a silencer attached and so on.

by soman319 on Dec 9, 2009 5:31 PM PST up reply actions

Btw Perks are basically what they sound like. You get 3 different types which range from Faster aiming and reloading to being unable to detect on radar and so on.

Oh and how is the game? Tied at Half, looks like Brand is the next player playing inspired basketball?

I am at the library, unfortunately (both because I am here and because I am not studying at the moment)

by Tanner Steidel on Dec 9, 2009 5:28 PM PST reply actions

odds that after adjustments and a hot 3rd quarter, the sixers still blow it in the 4th? should I even bother?

76ers

actually playing some d tonight, given against a B team, but still

by packimop on Dec 9, 2009 6:23 PM PST reply actions

Shows the state of the sixers.

This team is without their three best players (all of them are all-star caliber players) & the sixers are playing till late and its close!

by fantasybc88 on Dec 9, 2009 6:27 PM PST up reply actions

Only at the end, though

adn spottily even there. There have been some terrible defensive sets tonight, even in the fourth.

by chillicothe20 on Dec 9, 2009 6:30 PM PST up reply actions

Iggy for THREE!!!!! Get him driving to the rim and kick-out (using other screeners) to set up open Thad young, AI, Kapono or another shooter

by fantasybc88 on Dec 9, 2009 6:31 PM PST reply actions

You know, postgame live is currently

making the point that the D wasn’t terrible tonight or in general in the past couple games. True that the final score for DET wasn’t too high, but there were WAY too many open looks and easy layups for them. They missed some easy shots; the final score is a bit deceiving.

And it’s such a shame, because this team has the potential to be an EXCELLENT defensive team. Dammit, EJ.

by Saul on Dec 9, 2009 6:41 PM PST reply actions

I dont like the idea of having Iggy bring the ball up. For some reason it doesnt work very well. I cringe everytime i see it.

by Saul on Dec 9, 2009 6:42 PM PST reply actions

no eddie

you are the loser.

by el on Dec 9, 2009 6:44 PM PST up reply actions

i don't know

at least it shortened the night. we would not have to deal with the possibility of losing and wasting more time watching. wait…

what is that in the sky?

it’s a bird, it’s a plane, it’s john wall.

it sure is a good thing jrue can guard shooting guards. he can still start even if we draft wall (then again ej will be coaching so wall will probably sit on the bench next season).

by el on Dec 9, 2009 6:43 PM PST reply actions

OK, I'm already tired of all of this Wall-is-already-a-Sixer talk

Were 20 games into the season, and even if we finish with the league’s worst record, there’s still a 75% chance we DON’T get the #1 pick. Just stop. Fantasize occasionally, but stop.

by Saul on Dec 9, 2009 6:45 PM PST reply actions

it is just a joke signifying the position the team is in

and the direction the team is heading. he is most likely not gonna be in a sixers uniform. i agree. but now that the team is playing with a little inspiration, we see how flawed the entire offense/defense the team is employing is and how the team is heading nowhere. if it makes you happy, i will stop bringing his name up.
