How can we win this game? Honestly, not being sarcastic or anything. Want to know ppl’s opinions.

by fantasybc88 on Dec 16, 2009 2:52 PM PST reply actions

Start 5 bench players – have them punch the cafs starters in the groin as hard as they can on the jump ball…when they’re ejected – insert starters – win game.

It also has the plus of getting 5 bench players suspended for a long time which means they can’t play and make me sick

by jemagee on Dec 16, 2009 3:09 PM PST up reply actions

same starters as monday

holiday, iverson, iguodala, young, dalembert

plus speights is active (rushing a little bit?)

by Tanner Steidel on Dec 16, 2009 3:02 PM PST reply actions

so who’s going to be in trouble if Speights further injujres himself because he was rushed back into playing?

by jefu on Dec 16, 2009 3:55 PM PST up reply actions

Is tonight the night the Sixers are reborn and start a run to the Finals???

by chillicothe20 on Dec 16, 2009 4:05 PM PST reply actions

I take it back, i want the drugs you’re taking, not ricko

by jemagee on Dec 16, 2009 4:37 PM PST up reply actions

after that first jumper i can tell andre is still feeling that rib injury

by Tanner Steidel on Dec 16, 2009 4:13 PM PST reply actions

this small lineup is going to get torched

by Jordan Sams on Dec 16, 2009 4:13 PM PST reply actions

11-2 already

reminds me of the last game against Cleveland, we trailed 20-4 in that one, iirc

by chillicothe20 on Dec 16, 2009 4:17 PM PST up reply actions

4 assists already for Jrue

by chillicothe20 on Dec 16, 2009 4:25 PM PST reply actions

my feed is blurry

did jrue steal that ball from lebron>

by SexualTyrannosaurus on Dec 16, 2009 4:26 PM PST reply actions

techinally, but lebron just lost it and jrue ran over and picked it up.

by Jordan Sams on Dec 16, 2009 4:27 PM PST up reply actions

same thing he did to curry on monday

by Tanner Steidel on Dec 16, 2009 4:28 PM PST up reply actions

my favorite thing about thad is he never complains. iguodala would’ve never got his own oreb there. he’d be too busy complaining.

by Jordan Sams on Dec 16, 2009 4:33 PM PST reply actions

If you keep crap up like that i will come to nevada and kill you myself :)

by jemagee on Dec 16, 2009 4:46 PM PST up reply actions

I disagree that he would quit on a play in process…yes i do…after the play or after posession changed, but before possession changed – that’s an Iverson move, not an Iguodala move

by jemagee on Dec 16, 2009 4:52 PM PST up reply actions

a little surprised we aren’t down 10+

by chillicothe20 on Dec 16, 2009 4:34 PM PST reply actions

jordan – you still goin to the game on friday?

by Tanner Steidel on Dec 16, 2009 4:35 PM PST reply actions

lance berkman and roy oswalt both rank in the top 25 of espn’s top 100 of the decade. awesome.

by Jordan Sams on Dec 16, 2009 5:06 PM PST reply actions

Well, when you don’t win games that matter, i guess that’s something to hang your hat on…

I get it now

Astros
Cowboys
Sixers

Teams that will never ever accomplish anything significant no matter WHAT the expectations…THAT’s what they have in common.

by jemagee on Dec 16, 2009 5:10 PM PST up reply actions

well the cowboys are winning the super bowl this year.

by Jordan Sams on Dec 16, 2009 5:12 PM PST up reply actions

You don’t know how angry Sam’s outlet passes make me.

by Jordan Sams on Dec 16, 2009 5:26 PM PST reply actions

The only thing more certain is a december cowboys collapse

by jemagee on Dec 16, 2009 5:42 PM PST up reply actions

collapse isn’t a correct way to describe this december.

by Jordan Sams on Dec 16, 2009 5:44 PM PST up reply actions

When you fail on fourth down that many times what would you call it?

by jemagee on Dec 16, 2009 5:48 PM PST up reply actions

Well, they failed on fourth down once. And it’s called bad blocking? Or bad play-calling? But they lost to the better team. In no way is that a collapse.

by Jordan Sams on Dec 16, 2009 5:51 PM PST up reply actions

The giants are better than the cowboys
the eagles are better than the giants

Keep rationlizing jerry jr – :)

by jemagee on Dec 16, 2009 6:03 PM PST up reply actions

Lol I’m just saying. It’s like calling the Sixers/Magic playoff series a collapse by the Sixers.

by Jordan Sams on Dec 16, 2009 6:04 PM PST up reply actions

Expectations baby, expectations…the cowboys are expected to show up in the playoffs this year, the sixers were supposed to lose to the magic

by jemagee on Dec 16, 2009 6:06 PM PST up reply actions

By who? Not a single “expert” picked the Cowboys to be in the playoffs.

by Jordan Sams on Dec 16, 2009 6:07 PM PST up reply actions

Okey dokey :)

by jemagee on Dec 16, 2009 6:07 PM PST up reply actions

Look it up if you don’t believe me. No one did. Maybe I did, but I also expected the Sixers to beat the Magic.

Alright, buddy!

His release is slow so he probably would’ve gotten blocked. I liked the pass.

by Jordan Sams on Dec 16, 2009 5:35 PM PST up reply actions

Liked the pass too

But he was wide open….no one was near him. His release might be “slow” as u say, but he was wide open!

Doesn’t the fact that he’s playing Holiday more than Green now mean anything?

by Jordan Sams on Dec 16, 2009 6:04 PM PST up reply actions

Not to me – I mean green is coping with an injury still right?

by jemagee on Dec 16, 2009 6:05 PM PST up reply actions

Well, maybe. Noting is out of the question with EJ, but I doubt Green plays more than Holiday from here on out.

Great FT shooting tonight. Keeping us in the game.

by chillicothe20 on Dec 16, 2009 6:12 PM PST reply actions

I’m getting really tired of opponents getting more FT’s at the Wach over the sixers…WTF

by jemagee on Dec 16, 2009 6:14 PM PST reply actions

I haven’t seen any dubious calls or non-calls tonight. Just because you’re at home doesn’t entitle you to more free throws.

by Jordan Sams on Dec 16, 2009 6:16 PM PST up reply actions

Just seems consistent to me – a constnt thing, it might just be EJ’s system

by jemagee on Dec 16, 2009 6:16 PM PST up reply actions

Yeah, much less free throws this season.

by Jordan Sams on Dec 16, 2009 6:18 PM PST up reply actions

2 minutes left, EJ goes with Green instead of Holiday to close the game.

by Jordan Sams on Dec 16, 2009 6:19 PM PST reply actions

I’m convinced EJ threw this game.

Willie in during crunch time? Always a good decision

by Michael Levin on Dec 16, 2009 6:29 PM PST reply actions

So couldn’t watch but appears from following gamecast: Jrue played good defense again and can pass the ball, just needs to learn how to get his shot-off in the association. Am I right? Did he look good? Does he look like he could be our PG of the future?

by fantasybc88 on Dec 16, 2009 6:30 PM PST reply actions

Absolutely. Rajon Rondo is a pretty decent comparison.

by Jordan Sams on Dec 16, 2009 6:31 PM PST up reply actions

If he improves shooting like Rondo did, then wow! (Rondo went from 41% to now at 53.5%)

by fantasybc88 on Dec 16, 2009 6:33 PM PST up reply actions

Rondo doesn’t take a lot of shots though, at least not jumpers.

by Jordan Sams on Dec 16, 2009 6:34 PM PST up reply actions

Agreed, have only been able to watch the equivalent of 3 qtrs this yr so trying to get a feel for Jrue’s evolving game (seems to take a lot of 3s-are they open).

by fantasybc88 on Dec 16, 2009 6:35 PM PST up reply actions

wait a minute

was the rotation during the last part of the game:

thad-c
iggy-pf
willie green-sf
iverson-sg
jrue-pg

that is the most ridiculous rotation i have ever seen in my life.

by el on Dec 16, 2009 6:32 PM PST reply actions

brand
thad
iguodala
green
iverson

by Jordan Sams on Dec 16, 2009 6:33 PM PST up reply actions

Jrue + Wall

I still think it could work and be immense.

by Slizeezyc on Dec 16, 2009 7:12 PM PST reply actions

No – it couldn’t – unless you want the opponents starting shooting guard to average 25 points a game – too short

by jemagee on Dec 16, 2009 7:32 PM PST up reply actions

Shut your face

Let me have my dreams, don’t let height get in the way of something like that.

by Slizeezyc on Dec 16, 2009 7:35 PM PST up reply actions

PS

Trading Jrue on draft night if they somehow got first pick?

by Slizeezyc on Dec 16, 2009 7:37 PM PST up reply actions

Nah...

I’ll take defense first. anyone can score but real talent lies in defense. We might even get Wall, ya never know until it happens.

by guitarmouse35 on Dec 16, 2009 7:38 PM PST up reply actions

Both

Are good defenders, it’s just that Jrue is 6’4 and Wall is 6’3 so that’s the bummer. I think Wade is like 6’5 or so, but he’s longer than Jrue for example. I think if Jrue had more wingspan he could pull off guarding 2s.

by Slizeezyc on Dec 16, 2009 7:40 PM PST up reply actions

I hate to use this as an example

but AI played the 2 back in the day. height is not really important. Heck Brand is 6’8" and he was guarding big Z who’s 7’3.

by guitarmouse35 on Dec 16, 2009 7:42 PM PST up reply actions

Well

I think jemagee is rocking some hyperbole for effect (as he seems to like to do), but there was a similar discussion about a week or so ago about the same topic. Snow could guard some 2s as a bigger point guard, but it’s not the most ideal situation. Jrue has all the tools, but I just don’t think he has quite enough length or athleticism to handle most of the elite 2s. If he had one or the other I could buy into it more. On many nights they would be able to get away with it though because not every SG is the prototypical 6’6 Kobe Bryant. The Sixers would need to find a Thabo for those guys or play Iggy at the 2 when going against the bigger SGs.

The SGs I could think of as issues off the top of my head:

Salmons, Kobe, R. Allen, D. Wade, J. Rich, Ariza, Joe Johnson, B. Roy, Vince. So about a fourth of the league, though, I would really only be truly concerned with about five guys on that list, and I’m pretty sure even the prototypical SG struggles with Wade, Kobe, Roy, Vince and Johnson.

by Slizeezyc on Dec 16, 2009 7:58 PM PST up reply actions

Exactly

put Iguodala on their stud for defense.

But also, Jrue is only 19. I’m positive he’ll improve on the defensive end lol.

by guitarmouse35 on Dec 16, 2009 8:12 PM PST up reply actions

Why is Willie Green taking one of the last shots in the game?

Better yet, why was he even in the game at the end? Oh, that’s right, Eddie Jordan is our coach.

Speights is back. As expected he’s rusty, but he’s back. I like the future of the two young guns in Speights and Holiday.

Rotations I thought were better except for the end of the game.

Oh, one more thing — JOHN WALL.

by guitarmouse35 on Dec 16, 2009 7:37 PM PST reply actions

Well, they kept me far enough away from Eddie that I couldn’t take a swipe at him, idiot, he’s ruining my team’s chances. We could have won that game, and he puts in Willie Green?

The refs did screw the Sixers but that’s not why they lost. They had the lead and then they stopped scoring, ‘cause our half court offense still doesn’t have a clue. I would have had Speights in there at the end, still our best offensive big man.

by RickoT on Dec 16, 2009 7:42 PM PST reply actions

Wall plays ESPN defense. He plays the passing lanes, goes for blocked shots, but doesn’t play as good of man-to-man defense as Holiday. Whoever said it up there I agree with. I’ll take defense over offense any day. If the Sixers won the lottery and kept the pick, they’d have to take John Wall. You make it work. He’s one of the best prospects since LeBron, and there’s no Carmelos in this draft. The bold move would be to trade the pick. So many GMs would be foaming at the mouth, who knows what kind of deal the Sixers could get out of it. That would never happen though. No way the Sixers brass passes on a franchise player because they have Jrue and Lou. Jrue and Lou don’t sell tickets.

by Jordan Sams on Dec 16, 2009 8:04 PM PST reply actions

No argument here

But my point is that I just love that Wall is already so aggressive on the defensive end. He has even more tools than Jrue (better wingspan and athleticism) to be a freak on the defensive end. I don’t really have any doubts about his defense in the long run, whereas I look at someone like Rose who has all the same tools but is so complacent on the defensive end. He just takes way too many possessions off on that end of the floor.

And yeah, you can’t trade that first pick because you’re not getting a franchise player back for it. With Wall there is a chance that he becomes the franchise guy.

by Slizeezyc on Dec 16, 2009 8:08 PM PST up reply actions

Whoever said it up there I agree with

Me, Jason.

I also agree with all of that. You can’t pass on talent like Wall.

by guitarmouse35 on Dec 16, 2009 8:11 PM PST up reply actions

Drooling over this pick when the odds are so remote is a waste of time, you won’t see Wall here.

by RickoT on Dec 16, 2009 8:22 PM PST reply actions

If we have the number 1 pick

we will not pick John Wall. Why, because Eddie Jordan is our coach!

by DeanH on Dec 16, 2009 8:35 PM PST up reply actions

Good thing

He’s not in charge of the draft then.

by Slizeezyc on Dec 17, 2009 5:20 AM PST up reply actions

“remote”

The sixers will probably be one of the 5 worst teams in the league, and the ‘favored’ team hardly ever gets the first pick anyway.

But you continue your delusions of playoffs, it’s fun

by jemagee on Dec 17, 2009 6:47 AM PST up reply actions

Probably huh? Have you taken a look at the schedule after the Boston game? The Sixers will string a couple of wins together, Williams will come back and the team will develop confidence winning on the road.

The addition of Speights gives them sufficient scoring to be competitive. As Holiday develops he may work his way into the starting spot. He is clearly a better facilitator than Green, Iguodala or Iverson. His offensive game needs some improvement, but he makes up for it with his defense and passing.

In spite of Jordan’s stupidity regarding Brand, he did play him 33 min. last night including at the end. With all the talent this team has, you could coach them into the playoffs.

by RickoT on Dec 17, 2009 9:21 AM PST reply actions

Your confidence is pretty impressive, even though there’s no actual evidence to back it up – they were a crap team when Lou Williams was healthy, they’ll be a crap team when he’s back, they sucked on the road before he got hurt, they will again, the west coast trip they make at the end of the year almost always results in more losses than wins and eddie jordan wants to start allen iverson and louis williams in the back court at the same time….hell teams like the CLIPPERS are salivating at that match up.

The sixers were a terrible team when they were healthy, from day one, i’m not sure why you think Iverson makes them a less terrible team…there’s no real evidence to indicate that he magically makes this suckass team less suck ass.

They stunk BEFORE the injuries – why do you magically think they won’t stink any more?

by jemagee on Dec 17, 2009 11:07 AM PST up reply actions

Because Andre Iguodala is a top 10 guard in the NBA. Because Lou Williams is capable of being a top 10 guard in the NBA. Because Thad Young is on his way to becoming a top 10 forward in the NBA. Because Elton Brand has been an All Star and is now healthy, – sonething he wasn’t at the start of the season. And because Jrue Holliday is a very good point guard and with a little time will develop into a top 10 guard in the NBA and Marreese Speights is a top 10 power forward. And then we have that perennial All Star Allen Iverson, who while a bit older can still play and influence a game. That’s Seven really good players plue two decent reserves in Dalembert and Willie Green, and possibly Jason Smith. That means depth at every position, the ability to go big or small, and have superior athletes most nights.

Besides they play the Clippers , Washington, Utah, Portland, Sacramento and the Clippers. I bet you they win 5 out of 6 at least. If you think it gets any harder after the new year. guess again! They play Chicago, New Orleans, Houston, Minnesota, Toronto and Miami. All of which are winnable games in my estimation. After this swing they’ll be back to.500 and we’ll be talking about playoff seedings.
