Who is your coach?

Ok, so the sixers are deep enough into the Jordan era so far...I'm curios to see where people stand.

I wanted Mo gone, I knew DiLeo was a stopgap to save money...and jordan seemed like the right guy to many of us, but is he still the right guy for you?

Only reason I picked Jordan

is because I am assuming that Iverson will sign (ugh), and we’ve already seen what Mo Cheeks can do with AI.

I don’t like Dileo coaching when he is a much better assistant GM.

I at least wanna see what EJ does with AI (or doesn’t do) before I write-in a “none of the above” option. I am not expecting much… I’m actually not expecting anything. It just sucks because we’re stuck with EJ…

Agree about Dileo. He wasnt a bad coach, but hes more valuable to the organization elsewhere, which is why I didnt vote for him.

I’d rather have Mo with EJ as an offensive consultant, maybe.

D. None of the above.

Can throw a grenade, blow up the whole organization, and start from brick 1?

I voted Jordon, I’ll give him some more time before I completely write him off.

id rather have cheeks i think if this team styed put with one coach and got peices that fit together… brand doesnt fit… i said that they should have took a harder run at josh smith he was the player that fit or any other RUNNING power forward. and we still dont have the players for the princeton offense

by killacaravagio on Dec 2, 2009 10:07 AM PST reply actions

enough with the josh smith please… atlanta was going to match ANY OFFER that a team made… there was zero chance atlanta lost him

by Tanner Steidel on Dec 2, 2009 10:15 AM PST up reply actions

all i am say is we should have tried harder than taking another injured old bigman that didnt fit how many times do we have to do that. any mobile young power forward would have been better than using brand

by killacaravagio on Dec 2, 2009 10:20 AM PST up reply actions

You take your shot at Josh Smith – you miss- brand signs somewhere else and then you got nothing cause the cap space vanishes in the next off season.

People who keep talking about Josh Smith are the people who think Iverson makes the team better.

There’s a movie starring Alicia Silverstone that describes these people perfectly

i said it then, but corey maggette was the name they should have been in on.

maggette is basically what willie green could have been if he had a better jumpshot or could defend the perimeter, and as a true SG, he’d have fit the running style that the team’s been successful with since getting rid of AI.

human beings, who are almost unique in their ability to learn from the experiences of others, are also remarkable for their apparent disinclination to do so.

you miss brand cause he doesnt work and then they should have switched to a shooter. i thought we should have traded ai on 2003 and started to rebuild then hes not a winner and brand is going the smae way webber, van horn, glenn robinson, toni kukoc, colman, corliss williamson, we keep bring guys in after they broke down. thats too long of a list to ignore and none of them were close to working out, and i loved brand he would have been a good sign 4 or five years back not now. some times its better not to spend the money than buys something you dont need.

I voted Cheeks

But that said, Eddies only been here 17 games. Lets give him a chance to make this thing work.

Its like in football, it takes time for a coach to put his plan in place, you have to go through the growing pains before you actually get good.

by philiafan14364 on Dec 2, 2009 4:04 PM PST reply actions

19 games, with the exact same issues as Washington had(poor defense(especially 3-point defense), love of small ball(leading to bad rebounding), unnecessary head games, inconsistent rotations etc). We might as well be the Philadelphia Wizards. So there is no need to go further, I’ve already seen this movie.

His ‘plan’ leads to mediocre basketball at best. Teams that play no defense and can’t rebound can’t win unless they are offensive demi-gods. This team needs a defensive-minded coach who pushes the pace, plays a steady rotation and has a history of player development, not this brace-licking clown.

by MojoPharoah on Dec 2, 2009 9:32 PM PST up reply actions

It’s not Eddie Jordan’s fault they have poor defense..the poor defense has been around for a few years now. Basic fundamental man-to-man defense, is non existant with the sixers.

by FlyersGoalies1and27 on Dec 2, 2009 10:33 PM PST reply actions

Man, please. They were a top-8 defense just two years ago, and 14th in defense last year(even through the coaching change, Brand’s injuries, and identity issues). Now, before tonight, they are 26th in def rating. That is a huge drop-off, with basically the same players. The only thing that has changed is the coach.

by MojoPharoah on Dec 3, 2009 12:25 AM PST up reply actions

It’s Jordan. He’s a bad coach. I don’t want any of these guys anywhere near this basketball team. This team needs a good basic coach that emphasizes defense and rebounding. Jerry Sloan would be about perfect.

by RickoT on Dec 4, 2009 11:45 AM PST reply actions

I’d take Sloan, Brown, Popovich. I’d also take either Van Gundy, for that matter

by MojoPharoah on Dec 4, 2009 5:39 PM PST up reply actions

If Larry Brown ever coaches the sixers again, I’ll become a Knicks fan

by jemagee on Dec 5, 2009 4:22 PM PST up reply actions

Better him then Jordan. Of course, I’d rather have Jackson or Pops

by MojoPharoah on Dec 8, 2009 8:28 AM PST up reply actions

Well you aren’t getting Jackson or Pops – so that’s just kind of silly to think about.

I hate Jeff Van Gundy with a passion – if he becomes the coach i’ll vomit.

I like Lawrence Frank, i think he got a raw deal in NJ and maybe has that Stef connection
