Early Draft Board?

The only sure-fire thing to cheer a sports fan up is the upcoming draft. Today is December 1. The NBA Draft is exactly 205.18 days away. For obvious reasons, let's begin compiling our 60-player draft board.

what is with this john wall stuff?

he is gonna be the first pick and we are not gonna get the first pick. realistically, if we pick 3,4,5 i think we should get cole aldrich, apparently an athletic freak (great size and length at least) that replace sammy when we hopefully trade sam d next year for a star who can shoot. besides an aldrich-speights combo would be scary considering aldrich addresses the weaknesses in speights’s game (rebounding and defending).

if we can also trade willie green next year in the draft for a mid first round pick that would be nice. we can pick up a guy like stanley robinson who is supposed to be an athletic player that can guard the 3 and the 4 that can knock down the 3 at a good clip.

that is my wish list at least.

i want a lineup like:

jrue
star shooting guard
iggy
brand
some defensive minded center

with:
speights
williams
young
smith
aldrich
kapono
robinson
carney
coming off the bench

sorry just having a pipe dream again.

Sixers keep this up they’ll be a ‘top six’ team…lottery wise…after that it’s a crapshoot.

by jemagee on Dec 1, 2009 6:50 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

Every non-playoff team has a chance at the top pick with the lottery system. The poll question is who should be the top player on the draft board. The only seemingly surefire star player in this draft is John Wall.

Sixers getting the top pick is much more likely than trading Dalembert for a “star” or Willie for a mid-first.

isn't aldrich white?

has there ever been a white center who played at a star level? i guess there’s vlade, but aldrich is no vlade. brad miller, too, but again, aldrich is no brad miller.

so, if we draft him, what are we hoping to get? the next rick smits? we can do better.

Bill Walton and Kevin McHale disagree.

is aldrich either of them?

i mean, seriously, how many 7 foot white guys have ever been good? we’ve named 5, so far.

aldrich is a contributor, not a difference maker. this team needs a difference maker.

Well, most people say there’s only one difference maker in this draft, so it isn’t just tall white guys.

by jsams on Dec 1, 2009 6:54 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

the team needs a shooter, it's that simple.

aldrich won’t make the team any better. at this point, i don’t know who would, but there’s a ton of time to figure it out, and if you think john wall is the only savior, ricky williams might have to wave hello.

Judgements based on race are racism be you white or black, you’re ignorance of that fact (& most others) is constantly made clear.

I’m comforted by the fact hopefully that you’ll be gone soon…go back to BSG & rant there…or maybe philaphans would like you

i just want to say that even if aldrich is white, there are some white people in the nba that can play

joel pryzbilla
chris kaman
kirk hinrich as a starting pg instead of lou williams
rudy fernandez
dirk nowitzki
scalibrine (dude’s a dominant force)
ryan anderson
hedo turkoglu
zaza pachulia
andrew bogut
luis scola
manu ginobli
steve nash

i am not even white. i think this the first time i ever defended white people. it feels weird.

anyways, ok so cole aldrich is none of those guys (except maybe comprable to joel pryzbilla), but he brings a big man we will need after we get rid of sam next uear. btw, with eddie jordan at the helm, what makes you think that john wall will even play ahead of ROYAL? it will be a waste of a pick.

by el on Dec 1, 2009 8:59 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

Cole Aldritch is my top pick. Physical big who can block shots and shoot. Perfect replacement for Dalembert, perfect compliment for Brand & Speights, while also being able to finish Dre’s interior passes.

Good to see..

Some respect for my Syracuse boy: Wes Johnson!! He has a solid all around game, the question will be his man defense as it always is coming out of the 2-3 zone of Syracuse but he definitely is a pro 3.
