This is depressing......
Some thoughts from recent events:
It’s frustrating to see Willie Green play as much as he did, and he along with Iguodala forced some pretty awful shots (down the stretch) for yet another game.
Eddie Jordan deserves criticism, but I also believe more time (maybe some smarter players) before I officially banish him.
I miss Mo Speights sooo much!
I think Elton Brand is pulling a C-Webb…
I want to pull the trigger on Iverson, maybe for all the wrong reasons, but maybe he can help something or someone on this team. People talk about how the sixers will not get anywhere with him, but it would most certainly only be for the rest of the year.. so what else can go wrong? Will he really ruin our lottery chances? I think if we want anything from Elton Brand this season, we need someone like Iverson on the roster, at least until Speights and LouWill come back. If you wanna talk about how he will refuse to learn the Princeton offense which I do not doubt at all, then have another unit (such as Holiday, Iguodala, Young, LouWill & Speights when they’re back, but until then J.Smith & Green). Run that team When AI and Brand are not in, which obviously will change every night. Just a thought (that I don’t even really like myself).
Also, if Iverson is brought on board, he will more than likely take minutes away from Holiday when Lou is back. Will this hurt Holiday that much? I would think practicing against AI would help him improve, but that’s about it. I do not want him adopting the Iverson way of basketball, which could be a major downside.
This team needs an identity. If we sign Iverson, we know what we get, and what our identity would be for the remainder of the season. By not signing Iverson, we wouldn’t necessarily know what our identity would be, but definitely what it would not be— it shows that we would be committed to moving forward without Iverson, and are not worried about attendance numbers and whatever else you can think of by bringing in AI. Is it worth it for one year if he does in fact slow us down? Can we really get worse? Will this make us look bad for going back on our ‘plans’? These are the questions the front office must ask themselves— We’ll see how they answer them and where their priorities are in a matter of days.
Tear it up.
I’m thinking Cole Aldrich. More realistic/fits our need of a big man.

To win in the NBA one needs....
A go to scorer. I agree a Center would be nice (but I see Aldrich as a tweener though would really like him and like him as a pro). I also see MS and Jason Smith as possible players as centers (also would wait a yr if can get Wall), one only gets a chance to get go to type scorers one every 15 yrs (unless one of bad NBA teams who screw up drafting). We last got AI3 13 yrs ago it is time to get another scorer who can take over games (Andre or Lou or Thad are not those type of players). For an example look at what getting rose has done for Bulls.
I just went to nbadraft.net and looked at the 2010 mock draft just to see what players are likely to come out and based on the list, the only player that I am really impressed with is Wall. Everyone else is good at best. Wall is the only legit scorer right now that I feel is comparable to the “go to type” scorer. Favors and Davis from UNC are defensive threats but they are forwards not a C. I am not fully sold on Aldrich from Kansas as a future C. However, Wall will probably go top 3 so unless the sixers get lucky during the lottery they are not going to get him
i’d pretty much guarantee wall goes number 1… it’s not a probably

I am not sure of that....
As NJ has Devin Harris and Minn has Flynn plus the rights to Rubio. I think could fall to whomever (if balls bounce correctly than to Knicks) at 3.
Two points
The Jazz own the knicks pick outright so by your logic they wouldn’t draft Wall either since they have Williams.
However, I disagree with the assertion…Let’s say the Magic had gotten the #1 pick when Oden was the consensus – do they pass on him because of Dwight Howard?
Wall reportedly is far and away the best nba talent in this draft, you don’t pass on him and go for the ‘second best’ guy, that’s a bad way to draft.

forgot about Jazz, realized after I post it...
and they have Deron Williams. I think Magic might have passed on him, it depends on the team’s drafting philosophy (also might have gone with Durant to play the 2 and backup 3). Some teams go for best player some go for best player that matches a need.

When you’re sitting on the #1 pick you don’t draft for need, in my opinion, that’s a waste of a pick, if you don’t want the #1 pick, trade it, but don’t over draft a guy and then over pay him and then put unrealistic expectations on him.
Find a way to make it work or maximize your assets – don’t take the second best if you can get the best, figure it out from there.

I think in some cases you draft for what you need, but in this case, Walls shaping up to be far and away the best of the class, so I think even the Hornets would take him first overall.

Those cases would be if there’s no clear standout number one guy. But the right move in that situation is to trade the pick to some desperate team enamored with “The Number One Pick.”

Theres also that Lithuanian guy. But he seems to be more like Dirk than Dwight, and I dont think thats what this team needs.

Also, is it me, or is it sad that we are already talking about next years draft when this season is not even halfway over? only 17 games have been played thus far.
Some of us have been talking about next season for about a week or so…reality is what reality is, it sets in earlier for some than others

Remember when we were excited that Eddie Jordan got hired?
Once you start willie green for no apparent reason and pull your best defensive point guard for said schmuck you’re done

Especially when your argument for doing such is a desire to “push” the ball, forgetting that pushing the ball normally requires rebounds, which you now can’t get being so damn SMALL.
Plus, Smith is actually a better shooter. So you made the team weakness worse. Brilliant
