Green already is tied for the team-lead in shots… after two minutes.

by Jordan Sams on Oct 6, 2009 5:03 PM PDT reply actions

End of 1.

6 points 5 assists for Andre.
4 points 4 rebounds for Sam.
6 points 2 steals for Lou.

by Jordan Sams on Oct 6, 2009 5:12 PM PDT reply actions

One of the knocks on Kapono was...

He shoots too many 22-23 foot shots — one foot away from a three-pointer. Tonight both his makes are 22-23 feet. That’s something to watch. Those are the worst shots in basketball.

Only if you miss

Still.

If you take a step back, and you have two of those per game — that’s 2 extra points per game, which is 164 more points per season. That’s a lot.

6-2-2-1…. no turnovers, 3-5 from the field. I’ll take that from Bill every time!

Mike Preston just said:
kapono just scored 5 straight and broke up a 3-on-2 fast break …

I love the fact that he broke up a fast break.

REgie being Regie outh there

Raptors fans love him. Heard they already got a “Reg-gie” chant going.

by Jordan Sams on Oct 6, 2009 5:36 PM PDT up reply actions

So, will you miss watching Reggie

I think I’d rather watch the P.O. then the craze Evans offense…

Me too.

But his energy and hustle will be missed — not necessarily by the team, but by me.

Real good sign for the (Princeton) offense in these numbers:

24 FG’s, ,19 assists
65 pts
.585/.571 2pt and 3pt %

Wow.

I noticed all the assists in the box score.

by Jordan Sams on Oct 6, 2009 5:46 PM PDT up reply actions

Has Lou improved his shot?

Or is this just one of his hot games? Or lack of defense?

TETT

to early to tell. He is a streaky little bastard.

I was so happy when I first heard the trade.

Then people weren’t as excited as I was, and my enthusiasm dampened a little bit. Now I remember why I was so excited.

i just opened up the game stream. out of the ten things to look out for, what can you say? is brand fine? is sam, well, sam? is lou good on his jumper? give me info.

by el on Oct 6, 2009 6:35 PM PDT reply actions

Sam’s the same, maybe a little better on offense.

Brand — too early to tell. Not very explosive tonight.

Only seen a couple Lou jumpers, neither went in. (we only watched the 2nd half).

by Jordan Sams on Oct 6, 2009 6:38 PM PDT up reply actions

Kapono’s shot looks amazing, and there’s a ton of ball movement. Those are the biggest positives I’ve seen with my own eyes.

by Jordan Sams on Oct 6, 2009 6:38 PM PDT up reply actions

Marcus Banks just crossed Jrue.

“interesting” preseason line-up out there.

by tk76 on Oct 6, 2009 6:41 PM PDT reply actions

Holiday is unimpressive.

He’ll be fine, but now I understand why he wasn’t getting much burn in camp.

by Jordan Sams on Oct 6, 2009 6:43 PM PDT up reply actions

Nice drive and dish though

by tk76 on Oct 6, 2009 6:44 PM PDT up reply actions

He’s done a couple solid things. Reminds me of Thad his rookie year.

by Jordan Sams on Oct 6, 2009 6:47 PM PDT up reply actions

And Christmas sucks.

I’ve seen enough of him. This game + 8 SL games. His shot is very average — and that’s not good when that’s your calling card.

by Jordan Sams on Oct 6, 2009 6:44 PM PDT up reply actions

just got here

was out for dinner and completely forgot about the game. just read through the thread and see that we we’re winning. excellent.

by Saul on Oct 6, 2009 7:02 PM PDT reply actions

Speights didn’t look good.
Holiday looked like a rookie.
Kapono looked really good.
The starters looked good.
Christmas sucks.

by Jordan Sams on Oct 6, 2009 7:11 PM PDT up reply actions

Eh, a mix there of good and bad

saw 9-14 from downtown, though, with Kapono 4-6 overall and +18 for the night. THAT, my friends, is what we were looking for when we signed him. That good 3-pt shooting is extremely encouraging.

by Saul on Oct 6, 2009 7:13 PM PDT up reply actions

We'll be good.

Forgot to mention how good Green looked.

by Jordan Sams on Oct 6, 2009 7:14 PM PDT up reply actions

by the way

in related news, I have what amounts to courtside tickets for the preseason game vs the Wiz next week.

by Saul on Oct 6, 2009 7:05 PM PDT reply actions

watched on Justin.tv. Jrue looked decent. Speights looked HORRIBLE. I would think he would be cut if he was not signed, guys. Played the 2nd-3rd team all 4th quarter, shot 27% or so but played decent D, I think.

What do ya’ll think about Speights?? Jrue shot a couple 3’s smooth that I saw.

Great movement of the ball.

by DeanH on Oct 6, 2009 7:08 PM PDT reply actions

The ball movement was good. Jrue’s two threes were nice, but everything else was a little “rookie-ish” for lack of a better word.

I expected this from Speights. He looked bad. I think (missed first half) he was alright while he was surrounded by Brand, Lou, Iguodala, but when he was the focal point, he was awful.

by Jordan Sams on Oct 6, 2009 7:13 PM PDT up reply actions

Yes, I agree with all your thoughts. I only watched last 1/3 of game. Thought it was interesting the Coach left the 2nd team in till the end. Good way to evaluate.

by DeanH on Oct 6, 2009 7:16 PM PDT up reply actions

Yeah, well wins and losses don’t matter in the pre-season and I think he had seen enough of the starters. I’m glad we got an extended look at Holiday, Christmas and Speights. Speights is one to watch the rest of the pre-season. He seems to play well when surrounded by talent, and suck when he’s one of the most talented players on the floor.

by Jordan Sams on Oct 6, 2009 7:18 PM PDT up reply actions

On the bright side, at least Speights played fairly well when it counted, and sucked in garbage time.

by Jordan Sams on Oct 6, 2009 7:20 PM PDT up reply actions

Based on tonight.

I’d like to see our first five off the bench be: Green, Carney, Kapono, Smith, Speights. Our backup wings looked good. Our backup bigs are another story. I liked some of the things Smith did like stretch the D, but he was a little rusty. And Speights… come on man.

by Jordan Sams on Oct 6, 2009 7:16 PM PDT reply actions

I`m actually excited to see how Carney will play.

I`m just not sure how the minutes will be divided between him and Kapono…that is, if both play well.

Green can have his good games. I won`t get too excited over him until the season begins and he plays consistently well.

by jefu on Oct 6, 2009 7:30 PM PDT reply actions

Yeah.

I won’t overreact after one pre-season game, but I did like what I saw from the man they call BG.
