so pumped

i really don’t care about baseball at all…. i’ll be ready to watch on league pass broadband along wit those ready to watch – will it just be jordan and me this evening?

by Tanner Steidel on Oct 28, 2009 11:12 AM PDT reply actions

I might be here for the first hour, then im switching to fox.

by Ben16 on Oct 28, 2009 11:19 AM PDT up reply actions

Why? To watch rain delay episodes of Seinfeld?

by philiafan14364 on Oct 28, 2009 12:18 PM PDT up reply actions

no that there’s anything wrong with that

by Tanner Steidel on Oct 28, 2009 12:48 PM PDT up reply actions

But it's the friggin World Series!

I’m more of a Sixers fan than a Phillies fan, but the opening game of the World Series is a higher priorty. Still, there’s a lot of wasted time during baseball, and the Sixers game starts earlier and will end before the baseball game. I’ll just switch back and forth, and watch both teams win.

Anxious to see the Sixers against what is expected to be an elite team (and who has played like one in the preseason) Adding Brand to the starting line-up is a big deal, and Smith and Speights as support for the front line is as well. I think the team will be guard-centric to start, it isn’t clear if the Sixers will be able to draw Howard out to open up the lane. But if Lou and Andre can get off some good quick shots, the Sixers will be able to create some other opportunities.

Last season, the Sixers were good enough to beat Orlando, but not take them in a series. They had to play a very disciplined offense too, since the Magic didn’t let them run. That will still be the case this time. It will be interesting to see how effective the Princeton is against the Magic defense, and how hard the Sixers will work defending the three-point line. We should be somewhat better equipped this time around!

Lou Williams in a Braves hat? Brad Lidge on the Astros? What is this???

Oh, and the WS will probably get rained out, so the game might get huge ratings from the fans looking for something to do.

by philiafan14364 on Oct 28, 2009 12:17 PM PDT reply actions

Well, I’m an Astros fan, so I had to get them in there.

by Jordan Sams on Oct 28, 2009 2:10 PM PDT up reply actions

I’ll be rooting for the Phils, but they aren’t even in my top 3 favorite MLB teams. It’s time for the Sixers now. The road to the NBA Championship begins tonight.

by chillicothe20 on Oct 28, 2009 12:20 PM PDT reply actions

I’ll consider tonight a success if we win. I’m hoping Jrue gets more minutes than Bill but I wouldn’t be surprised if Jordan doesn’t play Jrue at all. Let’s hope the “EJ hates rookies” myth is just that.

by Michael Levin on Oct 28, 2009 2:42 PM PDT up reply actions

fagan reporting that holiday is on inactive list tonight.. i guess we got our answer to if “ej hates rookies”

by Tanner Steidel on Oct 28, 2009 3:33 PM PDT up reply actions

I’ll be surprised if either Ivey or Brezec get any minutes at all. Preseason is over and Carney is back and healthy. Depending on how the matchups go, we may see Green get 15 min. by himself. I doubt that Jordan will be looking to play Holiday much in this game, but I would love to see him get a shot. Really, they don’t have any other guards, Carney isn’t one, that leaves Green, Holiday and Ivey able to sub for Williams. It’s hard not to see Willie getting minutes until Holiday can chase him out.

by RickoT on Oct 28, 2009 2:25 PM PDT reply actions

I’ll be flipping back and forth but will definitely be around later with my input (hopefully mostly positive)

pumped!!!

by rs2100 on Oct 28, 2009 3:01 PM PDT reply actions

Theres literally no rain at all on the radar, they can play through a little drizzle. Lou is from Atlanta, and I was gonna say something about Jordan trying to get his Astros in their a little. Id think Jrue would get on the court more than Ivey, they basically fill the same role right now but the rook has the upside and needs to learn anyway. Willie will get his.

But I just want to see Brand not be awful. I’ll have to see the reactions on here since I won’t even be paying attention to the game the 1st hour cause I got to study, I have tests the day after both of the 1st 2 WS games.

is she the only person to ever sing at a magic game? at least when i see them she is

by Tanner Steidel on Oct 28, 2009 4:06 PM PDT up reply actions

if the sixers blow the magic out and everyone looks incredible, the night can only rate as a 9.5 because jrue is inactive.

by Jordan Sams on Oct 28, 2009 4:07 PM PDT reply actions

for tonight? i’m thinking it gets to be a huge run by the magic to start then the sixers come back, make it close, but can’t get a win… i say magic win by 6

by Tanner Steidel on Oct 28, 2009 4:11 PM PDT up reply actions

either 108-88 magic

or

97-96 sixers

by Jordan Sams on Oct 28, 2009 4:13 PM PDT up reply actions

haha those are quite different

by Tanner Steidel on Oct 28, 2009 4:15 PM PDT up reply actions

i’m thinking 117-114 Sixers in 2OT; Iggy for the win!

by chillicothe20 on Oct 28, 2009 4:16 PM PDT up reply actions

god i hate jj reddick

i wish he would go overseas to play so i wouldn’t have to see him everytime the sixers have the magic

by Tanner Steidel on Oct 28, 2009 4:48 PM PDT reply actions

I agree

He looks like he is trying to make up for all the shots he missed last year!

by DeanH on Oct 28, 2009 4:50 PM PDT up reply actions

Oh well, Bill Green is in. I think it is the Phillies time!

by DeanH on Oct 28, 2009 4:53 PM PDT reply actions

Sorry I haven't been here

and I’m about to leave, because even I can’t say the Sixers are more important than the World Series. I’ll definitely be checking back in during commercials, though. Sorry, Jordan…

by Saul on Oct 28, 2009 4:55 PM PDT reply actions

I know. I hope to be here for a great many of them.

Unfortunately, they have a LOT of Friday evening games this year… and the whole Jewish thing means I can’t do those.

by Saul on Oct 28, 2009 4:58 PM PDT up reply actions

I disagree

Last year it was wide open 3 shots all game long. This year I have seen a couple with 1 where Thad was no where near Petrius either time, 1 in, 1 miss. As long as a sixer is around, I am ok w/ 3s. Most will not make them if they are covered.

by DeanH on Oct 28, 2009 4:59 PM PDT up reply actions

This is the NBA. You can’t just be “around”; you have to charge them with your hands up, and the Sixers aren’t doing that.

by Jordan Sams on Oct 28, 2009 5:01 PM PDT up reply actions

Philly is going to love Speights, he’s got a real Philly attitude! Will take no crap from anybody, exactly what this team needs.

by RickoT on Oct 28, 2009 4:58 PM PDT reply actions

Speights is outplaying Howard, He’s Kryptonite!

by RickoT on Oct 28, 2009 5:02 PM PDT reply actions

i'm okay with that

andre played good d on that three… a rare occurrence.

by Jordan Sams on Oct 28, 2009 5:04 PM PDT reply actions

down 17

it hurts. 82 games of this?!

by chillicothe20 on Oct 28, 2009 5:04 PM PDT reply actions

3 sixers

not a single attempts to box out howard.

by Jordan Sams on Oct 28, 2009 5:35 PM PDT reply actions

i'm pretty sure

the magic broadcasters said the sixers made a mistake taking iguodala instead of jameer nelson

by Tanner Steidel on Oct 28, 2009 5:52 PM PDT reply actions

wow

speights is playing quality d tonight (well at least better than would expect)

by el on Oct 28, 2009 5:56 PM PDT reply actions

heheh... this place is dead.

I;ve done no more than check in at commericals. seems others arent even doing that.

by Saul on Oct 28, 2009 6:16 PM PDT reply actions

one good thing

looks like lou will aint giving up like the rest of the starters and who would have thought in his first game starting have 0 turnovers, can we start to talk about sammy being benched in favor of speights yet (this statement is based solely on the box score outdates dont get the game where i am)

by jallstarzz13 on Oct 28, 2009 6:23 PM PDT reply actions

the way he is using the bench seems to be way to much in this game, I mean Brand regardless of play isnt playing over 30 min

by Ant on Oct 28, 2009 6:27 PM PDT reply actions

Is this worth recording or forgetabboutit?

Nice box score contributions from Speights and Lou but looks ugly elsewhere.

by andyreidswaistline on Oct 28, 2009 6:34 PM PDT reply actions

Recap is up.

The Sixers, me, the people on the blog, all zombie-walked during the second half. My advice: get Tommy Lee Jones to flash you with one of these.
