Blazers coach Nate McMillan gives a conditioning drill that requires players to run the length of the court and back five times within a certain amount of time. The Oregonian reports point guard Andre Miller was the only Blazer with a guaranteed contract who didn't pass the drill Tuesday night, while Steve Blake, Travis Outlaw and Greg Oden recorded notable times.
Miller's punishment, according to the newspaper is a seven day, 30-minute detention with strength and conditioning coach Bobby Medina.

The fact that Greg Oden finished a fitness test with a better time than Andre Miller is laughable. However; I can't say this comes as a surprise. Anyone still wish we gave Andre Miller a 3-year deal?

I believe I said in some other thread that the “experts” are overrating the loss of Miller and this is one of the reasons why because he always had to play himself into shape. Thinking about it this might be one of the reasons why we started slow the past couple years because our starting PG did nothing during the summer.

Exactly.
Being a little out of shape is understandable, but being the worst conditioned player on the team? That’s awful.
Meanwhile.
78% of Blazer’s Edge voted that a team of: Andre Miller, Rudy Fernandez, Martell Webster, Travis Outlaw, and Greg Oden are better than our starters last year: Miller, Green, Iguodala, Thaddeus, and Sam.
Now, I didn’t show you this so you could go over to BE and talk trash, so please don’t. If you feel the need to say something, do it nicely. I brought this up to show you guys how underrated our team really is.
I don’t go over to other teams boards since it is a lose-lose situation in my opinion.
As for their question I respectfully disagree since I am not sure if they could deal with a out of shape PG at the beginning of the season and not having a head coach for the whole season.
Even this year I would take our starting five over theres and now that we have a head coach I am excited to see what can happen.

But did you see the question?
Andre Miller, RUDY FERNANDEZ, MARTELL WEBSTER, TRAVIS OUTLAW, GREG ODEN.
78% of them think that their backups are better than our starters.
BTW I agree. I don’t ever encourage going to another team’s blog and talking trash. It never ends well. I just had to share this poll, because it’s one of the most ridiculous things I’ve seen this week.
I didn't go over there...
But I assumed that is what the question was and I disagreed with it.

I agree that our starting 5 is better than their backups, but I definitely dont agree that the Blazers lineup is worse than the 6ers. I’m a sixers fan and all, but we have no true starting point guard, no brandon roy (iguodala isnt close, sorry), and no aldridge (although Im hoping brand gets back to old form, in which we would have a legit PF). The Blazers are a team that can compete with any team in the West, while the 6ers have yet to be better than a .500 club in the East. Just my opinion.

The Iguodala-Roy Debate.
Most will never get it. It’s not about how many points you score, how well your team does, or how much media attention you get. I have Iguodala as the better player — by a small margin.
Here are my arguments.
1. As The Legend pointed out, Iguodala has better stats. I’m not a stats guy, but I know a lot of casual fans are.
2. Iguodala beat Roy in both head-to-head match-ups last year.
3. Iguodala is the better defender, hands down.

I think the Sixers have done pretty well against the Blazers the last 2 years. Maybe the BE readers weren’t paying attention to those games, or maybe they should have played their bench more ;)
Anyhow, I’m a biased Sixers fan, and don’t pretend to follow other teams all that closely to be able to fairly critique them. No doubt the Blazers have a stronger team overall than the Sixers right now.

yeah, i would go ahead and say weve dominated the blazers. both of us are young with a lot of potential, we’re just more athletic overall. blazers are definitely deeper, which is pretty much the point of that poll, but theyve had how many top 10 and top 5 draft picks recently?
Are they really deeper?
Or is that just a common misconception. There’s no doubt they were deeper last year, but the first five off our bench this season should be:
Speights, Smith, Kapono, Carney, Jrue. I think that’s pretty deep.
Yeah, i pretty much meant the past couple seasons. but the fact they have Rudy coming off the bench shows they are real deep. We probably have about the same number of quality bench players, but theirs are definitely better/more proven. Id say all 5 of our guys have at least decent question marks in their game that they NEED to prove to be successful. Rudy, Blake, Martell, Outlaw, and even Juwan are pretty proven and mildly to extremely experienced, and Bayless has as much potential as anyone, possibly surpassing Blake in the rotation this year, and maybe Miller too before his contract is up
Exactly.
