Sixers at Mavericks open thread 01/02/09

Philadelphia 76ers at Dallas Mavericks, Jan 2, 2009 5:30 PM PST

13-18
19-12
Enemy: Mavs Moneyball
Prediction: 103-87 Mavs
8:30 PM est
TV: CW-57
Previous meetings: none
Probable starters:
Andre Miller PG Jason Kidd
Willie Green SG Antoine Wright
Andre Iguodala SF Josh Howard
Thaddeus Young PF Dirk Nowitzki
Sam Dalembert C Erick Dampier

The Sixers looked somewhat decent in the 2nd half of the Clippers game, but this is a classic good team vs. bad team game. And the good team is at home. I'm searching, but I don't see any reason why the Sixers win this game. For the first time in what seems like a while, the Sixers are playing a healthy opponent.

As always, when you expect your team to lose, you try to focus the positives. I'm going to enjoy the game, win or lose and hopefully witness a couple nasty dunks. I'll also keep a close eye on "the future" in Lou, Thad and Marreese.

All that being said, it would be magical if the Sixers pulled the upset. Let's go Sixers!

wtf?

anyone else having problems w/ league pass? They’re going to switch to the sixers game when the Rockets/Raptors game is over, apparently, at 9:30.

Send GT Green packing.

They only have the audio though. At least you guys will be able to see it. Its not even going to be on regular cable here. They are showing game five of the world series and then the Flyers and i dont have league pass cause i never need it.

Every NBA team plays today – there aren’t 14 league pass channels (which is a mistake in and of itself)…there are only 10 – so the sixers game is squeezed by a numbers game – kind of disappointing

Nope – but I just read a fine disection of a terrible (redundant statement) Bill Simmons article about how Steve Nash isn’t as good as people think he is.

I think he’s a hack who doesn’t really know what he’s talking about (and thus he is loved at ESPN…the guys who know what they are talking about aren’t given the megaphones, hollinger, thorpe, keith law – the smart folks at espn)…but his article is just taken apart as being factually inaccurate…i got a few laughs out of his ‘worst gm summit’ a couple years ago – but he probably now would suck danny ainges toe if he could

I enjoy Simmons for comedic reasons.

Let's trade for Eric Gordon.

That’s my favorite possible scenario of all time, but theres 1000% chance of it not happening. The Sixers have no one to give up and there’s no way the Clippers would even consider moving EG, but one can dream.

The Astros as the same way. Theo’s better for the team right now, but Speights is the future. At least let him play a little.

Every team in the NBA ‘makes a run’ – it’s one of those maxims that we all hear about – and the best way to stop a run is to answer the baskets – but half cour sets – hence these guys are screwed

and I don’t think they are really that better with brand in the half court than without him

lol

I don’t think anyone’s trading for him.

Pimpin' ain't easy and neither is being a Sixers fan. I manage to do both. Join me at Liberty Ballers, the SBNation 76ers blog. Don't make fun of the name either. It has nothing to do with the New York Liberty of the WNBA.

Agreed

I almost hope it was something he did or said to the coach/in practice whatever. Don’t want to learn it’s him getting the squeeze to Ratliff/Evans…

I'm no commie, but the Reds shall be the best again!

I look at each loss as a step in the direction of a trade.

So, it’s not all that bad. I don’t expect this team to be competitive until Brand returns and even then I’m not sure how competitive they’ll be.
