Lakers at Sixers 12/03/08 open thread

Los Angeles Lakers at Philadelphia 76ers, Dec 3, 2008 4:00 PM PST

The Sixers are coming off a potentially big win.

Mo Cheeks is fighting for his job by tinkering with his substitution patterns.

Speights played the most big man minutes the last night; let's hope it stays that way.

Iguodala playing small forward is a lot better than him at shooting guard.

The Lakers are going to be pissed after blowing a big lead to Indiana last night.

I wouldn't classify last night as a "big win" yet, but a W tonight against Kobe and the Lakers would be huge.

I'm cautiously optimistic.

Let's go Sixers!

TV: Comcast SportsNet

Record: 8-10

Prediction: 112-98 Lakers

This is an open thread.

this would be a huge win… but i’m still almost embarassed that the lakers are going to come here and play us with such an empty house…

Look, our star RB is nowhere near 100%, our backup RB is out, and our 3rd string RB goes down when defenders blow in his general direction.

yea our attendance is sad but the team hasn’t been playing great basketball the last couple of years. Also we fans always seem to come out when Kobe is in town so they can boo him.

I’m feeling a big big game for M16 and the Andre’s. Brand should be used to playing this team considering they shared the same building for several years. I’ve got my fingers crossed. I’ve been looking for that huge win to get us rolling. I thought that the come back against the Pacers and the win in Toronto would have done it, but apparently not. Mo Cheek’s teams have historically come out slow and finished the season strong. Not a good habit, but I can be patient for alittle while longer. I know it’s frustrating and makes people want to dump the team and rip their hair out, but I’ve got a sliver of faith left. I imagine there will be a good crowd out tonight for the Kobe show. Time to show’em what we got…

I’m sorry ‘big game’ for the sixers front court against the front court of the lakers? That’s insane.

As for Brand being used to playing against this team – he’s NEVER played against THIS team – he played 8 games last year – i’m pretty sure he never played a laker team with both gasol and bynum healthy at the same time.

It’s more likely that the sixers ‘big men’ get their asses fed to them by the lakers front court and kobe goes off for 40 after the way they played like crap last night.

The difference between the mo cheeks coached sixers and the phil jackson coached lakers – phil will have these guys up after last nights embarassment

I'll be at work.

And the game is blacked out for me, so if anyone could post a link foe me to catch the end, that’d be fantastic.

Where will you be when the Sixers hoist the Larry O'Brien trophy? Hopefully Liberty Ballers.

Ah platitudes – those are guaranteed to work it out

A. What the hell does faith have to do with the fact that hte lakers are better at almost EVERY position than the sixers, and their bench players could start on this team.

B. No they don’t ‘gotta’ turn it around sometime – it’s not required – or destined – they could keep sucking – and as long as putz boy is the coach it’s what i expect

you can be a fan of a team and still recognize how bloody awful they are

ok ok

i get it…you’re a bitter philadelphian, I can appreciate that. And you’re right too..but i was right about one thing, the Andre’s had both had big games…

Sams starting – fingers crossed he gets minimal minutes

Did Thad Young get hurt – cause if not – elton brand enters for thad young and sam stays on floor makes little sense

Very few things Mo Cheeks does make sense.

He tricked me by making some sense last night

Down 10 at the half – could be worse – not a lot of defense?

i watched the interview during DNL today and he mentioned the fact that he likes to plan. He said that he has a plan if the team keeps under-performing and he has a plan if they start to roll. He did say that he has not yet decided after how many games he should pull the trigger if the team is still under-performing. I also like how he says he is also a fan. It seems like too many execs today aren’t really fans of the team, they just work for them.

Stefanski's a stud.

I love that he has plans. And unlike most execs. I believe him.

yea and he’s probably the only gm in professional sports that doesn’t look like a pedophile..

ok nevermind but it’s good that he’s a fan of the team he works for like ben16 said…

I said what's up to him in passing at the Summer League.

He looked scared out his mind, as opposed to Kevin Pritchard who had an aurora around him.

Well we know his off season plan wasn’t hugely successful to me, so until we know what his plan is I’ll hold off on being excited that he can tell the media what the fans want to hear.
