Around SBN: Off Tackle Empire interviews Rich Rodriguez

ESPN 950 is reporting to my cell phone that Elton Brand will miss a month due to a fracture of the humeral head bone and tear of the labrum...that sounds like he should miss more then a month doesn't it?

It does sound like he should miss more than that.

Pimpin' ain't easy and neither is being a Sixers fan. I manage to do both. Join me at Liberty Ballers, the SBNation 76ers blog. Don't make fun of the name either. It has nothing to do with the New York Liberty of the WNBA.

i’d bet the farm on him missing more than a month.. but really, will this be all that terrible for the sixers?

they’re going to get to revert back to the “run with us” sixers of last year for at least a month.. and at 11-14, they certainly can’t do much worse than the sixers we’ve seen so far this year.. not to mention they’ll be much more exciting to watch

this is all assuming dileo lets them run, of course.. but why wouldn’t he?

Yeah

It will be interesting to see how they play without him. Hopefully Speights gets the start.

I dont see why Speights wouldn’t start. Would DiLeo seriously start Evans over him? Hopefully DiLeo uses this time to start getting the young guys (Lou, Young, Speights) significant, consistent playing time. Also it would be nice to see him experiment more with Miller at the one and Lou at the two.
1 Miller
2 Lou
3 Iguodala
4 Young
5 Speights? (would put up more offense than Dalembert and seems capable enough on the boards.

DiLeo has been playing the young guys a lot.

Reggie gets some minutes, but it’s out of necessity. He got a few extra minutes last night because of Brand.

not in love with speights starting just yet.. however, i think lou will has got to start.. i love the spark he brings off the bench, but this has to be the time to see if he’s ready to start on a nightly basis

just as long as he doesn’t start, get 20 mpg, and willie green relieves him and gets 30 mpg.. and also, lets start the “awful looking iggy 20 foot jumpers that clank off the back iron” counter

Looks like you had fun Jsams. I just think it is funny that 3.6 inches of snow and the whole city almost comes to a stop.

Yeah, it was insane.

Like I said no one knew what to do.

If Speights wasn’t starting before he’s not going to be starting now – it’s going to be thad or evans…

Correct me if I'm wrong, but

didn’t Speights start the two games EB missed earlier?

I did forget about the two games – sorry long day of shopping – but there are different issues now than there were before – thads not starting and different coach – so it’d be nice if it’s speights but i don’t see it as a guarantee

by jemagee on Dec 18, 2008 5:51 PM PST up reply actions

Yeah, it's not a given.

But I think it’s most likely and I think it’s the right move.

Shopping huh? Yikes.
