And fans still aren't going to the games which suck. I'm hoping the Sixers go on a monster run and get their fan base back.

i live about an hour and a half away from philly, in harrisburg, but i can see why people do not want to go. You never know what team is going to show up. I think it will take this team getting hot, making the playoffs and getting past the first round in the playoffs for this team to gain back most of the fan base. Plus with the Phillies and Eagles in town it is hard for the sixers to draw that much attention, especially now that everyone is watching their money and the Phillies just won the World Series.

I also think there might be something bigger with the Phillies winning the Series. I know, personally, I spent so much money on playoff tickets and World Series merchandise, that I just can’t afford to hit up many Flyers or Eagles or Sixers games.

I think the fact that the sixers come in fourth behind hockey in terms of fan base in the city is what it is and what it always will be…again, empty seats in the playoffs last year

Well yeah, I agree with that too. I mean, if my theory were a major part of the reason, then the Flyers would be in the same boat. But the fact of the matter is that the Flyers are still selling out just about every game, I believe they are at 99% capacity on the season.

I’m merely saying that it the Phils World Series hangover could be one of many reasons people aren’t showing.

I just don’t buy the world series hangover thing, as you said, people are still showing up for eagles and flyers games…whether to cheer or to boo…I really think that it’s just that Philadelphia (and many towns these days ) is becoming less and less an NBA town in general – college ball, sure, the big five (no villanova should not be part of it, i’m sorry, it’s not in philadelphia, and it’s fracking villanova fro cripes sake) is big (but tickets are much cheaper) but the NBA in philly is only really popular when they have a big star and are winning

I guess that makes sense. I mean, I’m only 19. When I first really started getting into basketball and the Sixers, I was 7 or 8 and AI was a new Sixer, so I don’t know what it’s like, until very recently, when the team doesn’t have that star player.

I’m speaking mostly from personal experience with the World Series hangover. It’s my reason for not going, so I automatically assume others are in the same boat.

Wow – now I feel old – i’m 36 – grew up on the mian line but don’t live there any more – but read a lot of different philadephia sports forums – and the sixers are just dead last in terms of popularity – hell the soul are probably more popular

games

i’ve only been to one game so far this season — the game after the phillies world championship parade.. that game should’ve been a sellout, seeing as over a million people were already within at LEAST a mile of the wach, therefore only 1% of those people had to go.. not to mention tickets were just $10 if you were wearing anything phillies-related

instead there were empty seats all over the place, the crowd was lackluster, and the game was even worse.. i haven’t been back to a game since for two reasons: work and general disinterest in this team

i’ve been saying since the beginning of the season that we HAVE TO give this team at least half the season to gel together with the arrival of elton brand.. i’m starting to think we’ve already seen what we’re getting from this team for the rest of the season

i’ll most likely go to a few more games this year, mainly because the sixers’ website is practically giving tickets away at this point.. i have a lot of faith in stefanski, but this team may be at least two years away from being remotely interesting again

I went to a St Joes game there that had more fans then the Sixers game I went to.
