Thanks Converse

So, I just opened the door and found a nice little UPS package sitting on the ground. I've been dealing with packages all day long, so it wasn't what I wanted to see. Then I opened it up to find myself starring at a new pair of shoes! Sweet! These aren't just any shoes, they're Elton Brand's signature shoes. Kathleen Neuman of Converse was nice enough to hook me up with a pair, and I greatly appreciate it. Here's a video with Elton and his kicks.

Here's a picture of my pair. Hopefully this is the break Sixers fans have been waiting for. As of right now the Sixers are 0-0 with these bad boys in my possession. Let's see if they don't start bringing us some luck, starting tomorrow against the Bulls. Again, thanks Kathleen!

that is siick, man

Look, our star RB is nowhere near 100%, our backup RB is out, and our 3rd string RB goes down when defenders blow in his general direction.

I also customized my own Chuck Taylors.

And I think they’re super dope.

How the hell do you make that kind of contact?:)

by jemagee on Dec 1, 2008 7:29 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

Apparently people read these little old blogs.

Hence the shoes and Stefanski conference call.

I remember the conference call – don’t suppose ed gave you guys any ‘one time use’ number – his silence is deafening

I know.

He needs a bat signal.

They knew about the bloggers enough to give you guys calls for the conference call, which means they READ the blogs, so they know there’s discontent and maybe they’ll see something that they hadn’t thought of :)

That's what I wanted with my trade machine post.

I think it’d be sick if the people on this blog proposed ONE move they think the Sixers front office should do at this point.

That’d be tough though because a lot of people think it’s too early for a move.

We all know what your move would be.

I don’t like Trade Machines, in my experience trade machine trades tend to work financially but don’t take team needs or functionality in to account.

Yes, I’d fire Mo, because I think it’s inevitable, and it’s the easiest move to make, and it costs the least amount of money…plus if you are planning to fire Mo at some point, you can’t make moves before hand because you don’t know what coach is coming in and you don’t know what players might thrive under him.

Yes some teams have made major moves this year already but one of them did it purely for cash space and the other two teams that participated, their coaches are on pretty solid ground also being their GMs.

I think before you make ANY trades you have to decide if Mo is the coach going forward, and if he’s not, he’s gotta go first before anything else happens…to me it’s common sense.

by jemagee on Dec 1, 2008 8:09 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

Good point.

So, if a major move happens, we’ll have to assume Mo’s the coach, at least for the rest of the year.

That sucks.

And if Mo gets fired, a major move won’t happen for a bit longer, even if one is going to happen, until they see what the new coach is going to do with the different players.

However, it also depends on who they name the coach. For instance, if Eddie Jordan is the coach, he’ll have time to see who fits and who stays and who goes in his system (i think it would mean more minutes for speights personally)…but if it’s some interim guy we know will never get the job long term it might only be a couple weeks…

It’s obvoius I think that Mo should be the first to go – i’m pre disposed to think that – but I also think it’s the smartest, and easiest, move to make…and the sooner it’s made the sooner they can see how the roster responds.

I also think the availability of a guy like Eddie Jordan accelerates things because I think he might be the right coach for the sixers…not just for the rest of this season but long term.

Something should happen soon because...

they’ll win 2 out of the next 6 at the most.

9-14 is enough bad basketball to do something and I think Ed knows that.

Anyone know how to find out the sixers starting record after 21/25 games last year – i know they started out bad – but how bad – and for how long?

I'm on it.

Interesting – can be argued either way – wish they were ‘a lot’ worse than last year – like the wizards

by jemagee on Dec 1, 2008 8:36 PM PST reply actions   0 recs

That was pre-Elton and pre-Thaddeus though.

So, I’d consider it ‘a lot’ worse.

An Argument could be made that you need more than 25 games to integrate a guy like Elton Brand especially since he only played about 8 games last year.

My problem is that the problem Mo had last year (playing Young enough minutes early) seems to be reasserting itself with Speights…plus the unhealthy committment to Willie Green needs to stop

by jemagee on Dec 1, 2008 8:45 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

Did we run any plays last year either?

And the perimeter D goes on him and there’s no excuse for that.

I don’t think there were any plays last year
Green and Evans were starting
And the sixers perimeter D has been bad since before Mo got here :)

Now we have Iggy and Thad.

Should be better in my opinion.

I’m not saying I disagree, I’m just playing devils advocate here, you could make an argument to spare Mo for a couple weeks/months/at least end of the year…especially if they run off a couple games in a row.

by jemagee on Dec 1, 2008 8:56 PM PST up reply actions   0 recs

If he turns it around, good for him. I'll embrace him.

But if not, I’ll be leading the “Fire Mo” Bandwagon. It’s a show me league, right?
