Sixers at Heat open thread 11/05/08

Philadelphia 76ers at Miami Heat, Nov 5, 2008 4:30 PM PST

A 4:30 start time! Yes! Now I don't have to blaze though traffic to get home in time for tip-off. Tonight we get our first look at Dwyane Wade and the Miami Heat and it's another game we should win. It will be important to see if we can get in a nice groove after slaughtering the Kings, especially against the Heat and Magic, two potential playoff teams. Just last week, we beat down the Knicks in the same fashion that we beat the Kings and then went on the road and blew a 23-point lead to a considerably worse team. Tonight we are put in the same exact situation. Let's hope for different results.

We really can't play better than we did on Monday, so the same type of effort should be more than enough to get a W. However; with a dude like D-Wade on the opposing bench, I'm never completely confident. I am really looking forward to seeing him, Beasley, Marion, my fantasy stud Mario Chalmers and their new coach (Erik Spoelstra) in action. As always, check out Peninsula is Mightier for the Miami Heat point of view. And one more thing of note, I will be super geeked if Mo rolls with M16 as the backup big instead of Reggie Evans. It worked last game and if Speights continues to impress like he has, it will be hard to keep him off the court.

TV: Comcast SportsNet

Record: 2-2

Prediction: 109-105 Sixers

This is an open thread.

If the sixers are that mediocre by the trade deadline, andre miller is going to be one of the primary suspects as to why so his trade value as a player will have plummeted – and again – expiring contracts don’t seem to have the value people on here seem to think

Well see – i never thought Mo should have been hired but he had many defenders – and people think he did a ‘great’ coaching job cause the sixers made the playoffs last year (though some don’t feel that was an ‘over’ achievement)

Does anybody else feel that when Green is on the floor it looks like he thinks he has to do all the scoring? Every time i would flip to the game it seemed like he was trying to cut to the basket and there would be somebody open up top or in the corners and instead of passing he would just shoot it anyways. (almost always missing).

i know i just cant believe none of the coaches or other players have not already slapped him and try to tell him he is not the only one. I hope Ed trades/releases him, but i think Mo, for some strange reason, likes him. Im venting. Its crazy how we can go from scoring 125 one night, granted against sacramento, and then not even break 80 the very next game. Too much inconsistency.

Yes mo seems to like him – i’ve been complaining about willie green for years now – don’t expect me to change now – one of the MANY reasons mo should be fired is his unhealthy dedication to this piece of basketball flotsam

and no one ois going to trade for willie green unless you take worse back – thanks BK for that awful contract
